Prohodna is the most beautiful karst cave in north central Bulgaria, located in the Iskar Gorge near the village of Karlukovo. The main sight here are the "two huge eyes" on the roof of the cave - the eyes of supernatural power.
Prohodna a.k.a. Eyes of God is magnificent Cave. It's a very huge and not typical cave - it is actually a huge tunnel that goes straight through a hill. The eyes on its top in the middle of it are really mysterious. If you want, you can climb on the walls.

Superb natural site, reachable by car. An eco path, well maintained is leading to it, iveral it is 4 km long, 3.4 of them can be done by car. The final walk is 600 m only. There is a free parking infront of the walking forest area. There are seating and bbq premises. Worth visiting

"Devetashkata peshtera" is an amazing natural phenomenon, located about 20 km from the town of Lovech. There is a small improptu parking lot, next to the caravan where tickets are sold (3 leva per adult, 2 leva per kid), 200-300 m from the entrance to the cave. Then it is an easy, short stroll, crossing the Osam river on the bridge that was built, as a donation, for the filming of the movie "The Expendables 2" in 2011. The entry hall is huge, probably more than 50 m in height, with 7 scattered openings on its ceiling. A streamlet, coming from one of the two galleries of the cave, flows through the hall and then meets with the Osam river. There are 15 kinds of bats and several other protected species of birds, mammals and amphibians living in the cave and the two galleries are closed for visitors from the beginning of November till the end of March during the bats' breeding period. In the 20th century the cave was used as a petrol warehouse by the military but the tanks were removed in the beginning of the 21st century. There are 3 info boards - the most interesting one, about the bats, is both in Bulgarian and English. Additionally, a map of the nearby natural attractions is at the entrance. Visiting the cave is a good experience and can be combined with seeing other interesting places in the area - the Krushuna Waterfalls and the caves around the village of Karpachevo.
