My very first visit to Drogheda, and boy, did I get a big surprise...The place is beautiful, and steeped in so much history...The tower is an awesome structure with quite a wee climb to the parapets etc...but...absolutely well worth the effort.. I learned more that day in a few hours than I done during my school career... The guides and staff are so very knowledgable, and one could stay for hours listening... You actually get an insight to what life was like back in those days, steeped in the mists of time... The soldiers uniforms, they're muskets, canons, flags, swords... How they sometimes managed to weild or use or carry these heavy implements of war, is beyond me... they must have been very strong men...I got holding one of the muskets, and believe me, they are quite heavy... The tower is quite big inside and with lots of light everything can be seen in all its glorious colour... A visit to this location is definitely well worth the travelling distance.. I came with a coach party from Coleraine on the north coast, and a lot of the scenery in that part of Ireland, is breathtaking... I can 110% highly recommend. The people of Drogheda must be so proud of this great historical giant... We really enjoyed the day, and finished off with a delicious meal up the road a bit at the Pheasant Bar/Bistro...absolute heaven... Thank you to everyone at the tower and museum for giving us an unforgetable day out...

A beautiful and unique place to visit for those with a love of art or history. The gallery is sited in the former Drogheda Franciscan Church and part of the Friary; known locally as the ‘High Lane Church’. The Franciscans gifted the property to the people of Drogheda when they ended their 760 year association with the town in 2000. The buildings date from the early 19th century, though elements date back to earlier times.
Interesting paintings and pictures of the Town, Very helpful staff to explain everything, nice cafe adjoining

I have passed this place countless times but never went in. After deciding to visit I was surprised at how much is here, both for adults and for kids. The staff were very friendly and advised us to take the elevator to Floor 3 (the fourth floor for those who count from the ground floor) and work our way down, The current exhibition on the top floor is of a famous son of Dundalk, Peter Rice, an engineer who has been involved in the building of many iconic structures across the globe, including the Sydney Opera House. The next floor explains a lot of pre-history from Louth, with much of the information being completely new to me. In particular, it's a bit disappointing to realise the destruction of ancienf monuments that happened in the 1800's, for which wie only have drawings from the mid-1700's. THe next floor has more recent history, including Cromwellian artefacts and the history of that period in Louth. The ground floor has 20th century exhibits from the region. This is a really thorough historical overview of Louth. It even has a Heinkel Bubble Car - I never realised that the GNR factory in Dundalk acquired the rights to this car from the original German factory. All in all, a fascinating place, well worth the visit.

Listoke Ginotel, Listoke B&B, Listoke Gardens, Listoke Garden Shop and The Gallery Listoke (art gallery), Located among picturesque woodlands just outside of Drogheda, Listoke is the perfect place to spend your day.
Quel surprise!!! We were greeted by Raymond, a superb host! We were shown to our fabulous room with amazing bay windows and superb bathroom with wet room shower and free standing bath. Amazing view overlooking the courtyard where I was able to lie on the chaise longue watching visitors come and go...and was jealous of those attending the amazing gin school!! We met Raymond at breakfast in the tearoom both mornings where we had fabulous coffee & croissants to compliment the continental breakfast. Raymond happily gave us on the history of Listoke which was so interesting. We then were given a tour of the gin school...A...MAZING!! Can't wait to re visit Listoke and experience a full Gin school experience!! Ps had the best relaxing time and went into Drogheda to a restaurant recommended by Raymond...soon good we went twice!! Have raved about this place all day and have already booked a friend in before I left. Raymond WE WILL BE BACK!! Thankyou
