Restaurants in Hawaii

While most folks come to the Honokohau Harbor for boat tours/charter fishing, there’s a lot more to see and do here... there’s a nice restaurant with great food, plus shops for island clothing and fishing tackle as well :)). Many tropical fish hang around beneath the vessels, and turtles pass through too... nautically inclined folks can admire the array of boats docked here, and if you show up around mid day, you might be able to view trophy catches being brought in as well (look for the flags high above the flying bridge to see what species were hooked). Enjoy!

Went out on the boat and had a blast even though I don’t fish ever. The whole crew was very helpful and friendly. We caught three wahoos along with plenty of other smaller fish, and the crew helped one of the younger kids reel one in which was fun to see. Definitely my favorite guided tour out of the 6 I’ve been on in Hawaii and I would highly reccomend going. Derrick, Dana, and Chris were great with the kids and made it a very fun trip

The Old Airport area offers a long sandy beach with picnic shelters, restrooms, and showers that’s a favorite spot for local families plus visitors both... Events are frequently held at the large pavilion on the southern end, and the grassy lawns, big paved area, and walkways serve as places for many recreational enthusiasts... towards the north end, you’ll find a nice place for sunbathing and snorkeling (when the ocean is calm), with shade trees as well. We often stop here for a picnic lunch (with ono eats purchased at KTA, Sack N Save, or Island Naturals) :). Enjoy an easily accessible place close to downtown Kona!
