Nestled in the Amazon foothills, the Manu Learning Centre sits overlooking the riverbanks of the Alto Madre de Dios River. The fusion of indigenous Matsiguenka principles and modern comfort allows the MLC to blend into the rainforest whilst providing rustic comfort for visitors. Home to over 512 species of birds, 13 species of primates and large mammals such as the jaguar and puma, the MLC is a must for nature lovers.
An excellent trip, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! The staff are always friendly and happy to help with any queries or problems, as well as anything extra you’d like to see in your stay. The accommodation was clean and well-kept, especially given the middle-of-nowhere location. Take every opportunity you’re offered if you can, I got to learn about and see butterflies, birds, frogs, snakes and plenty of monkeys! Everything is adaptable to your wants and capabilities so it’s an adventure for everyone. And of course, incredible scenery to wake up to every day!

This location provides the world's best Andean Cock-of-the-Rock viewing in a pristine cloud forest reserve. The Cock-of-the-Rock Lodge is located in the magical Manu cloud forest on the lush eastern slopes of the Andes, and is part of the Tropical Nature conservation system.
Our group of 4 were the only people staying here apart from some biologists who used some separate facilities situated across the road. Due to the ravages of Coronavirus all the lodges we stayed at on the Manu Road & The Madre De Dios River were , to varying degrees , not running at full power , so to speak. Having said that , Cock of The Rock Lodge was doing a very good job. Only thing not available was in house cooking but we had taken our own cook for the trip so not a problem. The wooden cabins are really lovely , clean & comfortable with their own balconies & en suite bathroom facilities. No electricity in the cabins. Instead 2 portable solar lights are provided. I found the hot water hit & miss. The communal area is where you eat , relax & access the internet / charge batteries - power only between 6pm & 9pm. There is a bar but at the time of our visit we had to ask for beer / soft drinks which were kept somewhere in the kitchens. A great feature of the communal room are the large , opening windows which , when propped open give you an excellent view of the back garden where hummingbird feeders are hung plus tables for birds & mammals to come to. We saw plenty of birds plus monkeys , a Tayra & an Agouti. Also some Andean Cock of the Rock. The Gardens are extensive with trails leading down to the river. Altogether , a lovely peaceful place to stay. Good birding to be had along the Manu Road , too & don't fail to visit the Andean Cock of the Rock Leo a short way up the road. We saw 4 birds.

Stayed for a total of 4 weeks and had the greatest experience here. Such a beautiful place with a very experienced manager who was happy to show you around and share his knowledge! Food was superb and the lodges where very cute. The perfect stay if you want to experience the amazon and really disconnect yourself with the busy world in the cities. I would recommend this 100%. Will for sure come back as soon as I can!

Amazonia Lodge is in a fantastic setting , surrounded by forest. We reached the lodge via a short boat ride across the river from Atalaya. You have a level walk ( apart from a short scramble up the river bank ) of about 15 mins through the forest to reach the lodge. 2 blocks of accommodation have wide , covered balconies in front of the rooms. A separate kitchen & also separate dining room stand nearby. Extensive gardens surround the buildings harbouring mature trees & shrubs that attract humming birds & butterflies. All around is the forest. So far , so good but all the buildings are in very poor shape with missing guttering , plaster cracks , wooden planks missing from balcony roofing. My bathroom was grubby with green mould growing on the curtain & the curtains in my room were like rags. As there was no restaurant service at the lodge we were travelling with our own cook. We had brought our own food & beer with us & on arrival I went to have a look in the kitchens. They were in a very unhygienic condition & the interior of the ' fridge was a disgrace. In the 3 nights that we stayed here I only saw 2 resident staff. Now , I realize Peru has had a tough time with Coronavirus & no tourists. Our small group were the only visitors for some time & I think a place of this size must need more care. Maybe finances are stretched. Therefore , I'm cutting the place some slack but someone needs to get a grip on the place rather quickly. Having said this , I want to state the positives. Our crew cleaned up the kitchen & dining room to an acceptable condition. The location is perfect with a wealth of birds & butterflies to be seen in the gardens. There are great trails through the forest & a nearby narrow lake where many Hoatzins can be seen. Parrots come to feed on the Palm fruits hanging on the tall trees at the edge of the gardens. The balconies are great places to sit & relax by day or evening. An unexpected bonus was also constant electricity & hot water. No internet. So , despite crumbling infrastructure I really liked it here.

Community lodge located in the cultural zone of Manu National Park, with five excellent and beautiful bungalows, each equipped with three beds and a gorgeous outside bathroom. Managed by the native Matsiguenka community of Shipetiari in cooperation with NGOs and travel agencies. Excellent choice for those who search to combine nature with culture.
I stayed here at pankotsi alberque for 15 days and after leaving today i feel i left too early. The lodge is comfortable private, includes good food, with nature viewing right from the lodge. I saw monkeys, macows and more! Plus, you are just a 15 minute walk from the native community shipetiari, which is filled with generous and kind people. Awesome cultural experience with opportunities to relax and enjoy nature!

We went to Manu National Parc in September 2015 and it was an amazing experience. We chose Manu Lodge which is located at a small lake inside the Manu National Parc. The Lodge is a little bit old but has everything you need and is located inside the jungle. The whole parc is just incredible with all its different plants and animals and untouched nature. We even saw a jaguar chilling at the side of the river and many animals more. Our trip was perfectly organized and guided by Froilán "Chito" Neyra, our very very good guide with very much knowledge about all the surroundings, the nature, the plants and the animals, he explained everything and in the meantime was very nice to hang out with, very nice guy. He also offers special trips to the jungle and other places and also in Cuzco and the area around which seem to be pretty nice. In case someones looking for a guide or some tours he can be contacted by his email adress: [email protected] or under his name on facebook. great trip!
