7 Lessons & Workshops in Arequipa That You Shouldn't Miss

January 21, 2022 Mikaela Didonna

In Peru's second-most populous city, aka "The White City," stunning colonial buildings made of pearly sillar stone vie for attention with the surrounding volcanoes and snow-capped peaks of the western Andes. Founded in 1540, it's a smorgasbord of mansions and museums. The top attraction, 215,000-square-foot Santa Catalina Monastery, is like its own city within a city, complete with fountains and cobblestone streets. Arequipa is the favorite base for visiting Colca Canyon and its massive condors.

This is a great experience and professional cooking class in a great kitchen set up!! My husband & I enjoyed ourselves and even though we love to cook, we still learnt new things from Art. He demonstrates each step & then lets you prepare each ingredient and he gives you the recipes to take home. Looking forward to recreating this at home! Wish we would have had more time to do another class with him. I highly recommend this class and I would certainly go again if I come back! Thanks Art!!

I took classes here for 3 weeks, and can highly recommend the school and my teacher Patricia. We talked in Spanish 4 hours daily, and this made a huge difference in my capability to communicate with people. The topics we discussed were interesting, I didn’t learn just the language but got insights into the Peruvian culture and lifestyle as well. We went through a reasonable amount of grammar, concentrating on the things that I was struggling with. The one to one classes are super effective as you can always ask for help when missing a word or not knowing how to conjugate the verbs. Patricia was super patient with my slow talking and also talked very clearly and slowly so that it was easier to understand her. I definitely recommend taking classes here. Muchas gracias Rocio y Patricia!!

During my trip in Peru the confinement catched me in the middle of Mars, so with many free time I decided to take some Spanish classes and I found Paul. He has a lot of teaching experience and he helped me a lot. I was a beginner student and now I started to study Spanish language by myself. I highly recommend these lessons.

I spend two weeks at Llama school to refresh and kickstart my spanish. I could not be happier with my experience. Maria and the other teachers, all of whom are extremely nice and helpful, went out of their way to tailor my two week program to my individual needs. As my previous knowledge of Spanish was somewhat patchy and did not fit the commonly used framework of A/B/C levels, this more individual approach was key to my advancing my language skills. Within two weeks I have enormously gained confidence in speaking und my overall understanding of the language improved a lot. Apart from the very positive teaching experience, I enojyed the familiar and welcoming atmosphere at the school. I highly recommend anyone seeking to improve their Spanish - regardless the level of prior knowledge - to do so at Llama Spanish School! Thanks again :)
