We enjoyed our time at Tsukiji Hostel Wakayama very much. Hosts were very helpful and welcome was heartwarming. We could talk both English and Japanese with hosts and communication was therefore easy. We found the Hostel easily through their help and we got good tips for sightseeing local area. Room was spacious and beautiful, also the Hostel generally was very nice. We only stayed for one night, but we are sure to keep this place in our minds!

A 15-minute walk from JR Wakayama Station, Guesthouse RICO offers dormitory-style and private rooms with free Wi-Fi. The guesthouse was renovated from an old apartment building situated in the street where is known as a wholesale district for a long time. The reception and lounge are on the 1st floor while the guestrooms are on the 5th floor. Featuring warm hardwood walls & floors and old furniture, the lounge is a relaxing space for not only staying guests but also local people. It serves western-style breakfast in the morning, and opens as a bar at night. Guests can choose to stay in private double rooms or in dormitory-style rooms. There are both western style dormitories with bunk beds, and Japanese-style dormitories where guests sleep on tatami-matted floors. All guestrooms have air conditioning. Bathrooms and toilets are shared. The guesthouse is conveniently located within walking distance to Wakayama Castle and many other sightseeing spots. It is a perfect base for touring the city.
The location was tend a bit slightly far from station around 15mins of walk through the quiet residential neighbourhood unless you dont mind walking and dragging your luggage for that among of time during winter. The bar / reception area release a simple, nature cosy charm. The building just next door goes up to level 5th which is our dorm area. The room was just nice for 2 altho slightly cold on the wash up, shower and washroom as it was just beside separated by a wooden wall. Free coffee & tea available. Sadly didn't know about the rooftop, if not will head up and take a look.

I'm loving every single corner in this Guesthouse. The owner is such a helpful man with a talent for cooking curry. He offers food in the cafe next door. Everything for a averaged Japanese price. Coffee was good and also the breakfast. The place is not far from the beach. You just grab a surfboard and catch some waves. The decoration, furniture, yard and the house look great and are warmly. I felt like home in this place. You can use the kitchen. Water and rice for free. Wi-Fi was very good and available on both floors. The whole facility is kept clean and tidy. Overall a fantastic place!
