My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely return. The restaurant is cosy, has wonderful views and serves great food. Our room was very comfortable and clean, and again had a lovely view (pictured). A hearty breakfast is also included in the price. A perfect base for a visit to the Dales!

We received a nice friendly welcome from Charlie and two ladies at reception. Our room (10) was lovely, an open four poster bed with a walk-in shower, but there was nowhere to put our toiletries. We had nice views of the lawn and hills in the distance. It was nice to see the sheep, newly born lambs and some hares and rabbits in the nearby fields. We enjoyed some drinks in the bar and in the lounge, the Pheasant Plucker ran out before the glass could be filled. They had no replacement so I had to have Hen Harrier. My wife enjoyed Blueberry G&T’s. Our evening meal was good, nothing to write home about. There was a limited choices on the menu, just four of starters, mains and desserts. A couple more mains choices would be better. I ordered drinks and a starter of Goats Cheese Tart. The Tart arrived within 4 minutes and the drinks about 5 minutes later. My wife’s main of Lamb Koftas tasted okay, The pita bread had been over cooked and was dry. After complaining, It was quickly replaced with a freshly prepared one. My mains, Sea Bass Fillets (2) and a scallop in batter with egg noodles would have been outstanding if only it had been served on a hot plate. The noodles soon went cool. The broth and in particular the scallop in batter was delicious, I could have eaten four of the scallops. Our Desserts were Caramel & Chocolate Tart, I was very pleased with it, but the Baked Alaska was a disaster, the ice cream had melted! We had a good nights sleep in our Kingsize bed but slept near the middle because it was only fitted with a double duvet ! Surely they must have Kingsize Duvets! Breakfast was very good, I couldn’t fault it, plenty of additional choices besides ‘a full English’. All staff were friendly and helpful. The Falcon Manor is a lovely hotel which has some incredibly nice features. If your wanting a place to chill out away from the hustle and bustle then I can highly recommend it. The grounds are lovely and I can see in warmer days how nice it would be to sit outside with a drink, relaxing, chatting or reading a book. I’ll leave the choice to you! On checking out we were asked about our stay, so mentioned only about the food. The manager without hesitation reduced our final bill to take account of our evening meal issues......... and Yes, I would stay here again, but only bed and breakfast. This was out first stay here, we have stayed on several occasions at one of their sister hotels, The Royal Hotel in Kirkby Lonsdale. Both are quite different regarding locations and things to see and do.

A great property in the historic, market town of Settle situated moments away from the market square and stunning backdrop of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Unwind in warm and cosy guest rooms filled with all the comforts of home. Enjoy classic food, home-cooked and delicious, in the restaurant and then hunker down by the 17th-century Inglenook fireplace or in the comfy hideout with award-winning cask ale. Part of The House of Daniel Thwaites collection.
I booked a character room for two nights. Beautifully maintained property, ground floor bar/restaurant with a real buzz, welcoming staff, totally professional and hepful, beautiful breakfast and classy, delicious evening meal. And the bedroom -- just beautiful. Beautifully decorated and warm (during cold weather) it was ideal.

After a long days cycling to get to the Yorkshire Dales, I arrived at the Craven heiffer at 5:00pm (having googled it)previously) en route to my campsite at Winskill Farm on the scar above. Upon my arrival at a nearly empty pub, I was told there was no food and that they were fully booked for food. This was a dissapointment to say the least, Having cycled through Settle to get there. Being thirsty I had two pints and left a still empty oub an hour later. I still don't know whether they were playing host to the invisible dining society? where all these bookings had got to? or if it was a practical joke they play on Touring cyclists. I then rode on (hungrilly) to my campsite for a boil in the bag curry. The Craven Heiffer was asour end to an enjoyable day. Id advise anyone wanting a meal on spec, to avoid the Craven Heiffer especially if the invisible diners are there, they want a Waldorf Salad and the chef's off having fun with a Finn!

We have just stayed at the Game Cock Inn, we will definitely be back when this way again. The owners and staff were lovely and so helpful. The room we stayed in was a small double and it was perfect, had a comfy nights sleep and a great shower in the morning. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. Can't fault this charming little place.

Situated in the heart of the picturesque North Yorkshire market town of Settle the Royal Oak is a must on everyone’s itinerary when visiting the area. The Royal Oak offers a fresh looking country inn packed with character and ambience. Our professional team is ready to greet you and take away your daily stresses
Came in for food, not even busy and was told we could not order as the chef was to busy. The pub was not even that busy. That would have been bad enough however not 2 minutes later taking orders from people who have just walked in. Went else where, least we were made to feel welcome
