Probably the way all pub rooms should be. Air cond, fridge, tv, microwave, modern ensuite. The works....and all at a great value price. Downstairs there was cold beer and good service. A pleasure in a great little Tassie town. Anyone not impressed is very hard to please

The Racecourse Inn offers stylish accommodation, together with warm, country hospitality in a heritage listed Georgian former coaching inn, in historic Longford, one of Tasmania's oldest villages. This beautifully restored building was originally named the “Northern Hotel”, and subsequently renamed "The Racecourse Hotel" after the Longford racecourse, Australia’s oldest continuously operating track. Our five en-suite guest rooms have been individually furnished with period antiques with the comfort of the traveller in mind. Upstairs are three delightful attic rooms with dormer windows and sloping timber-lined ceilings, and downstairs are two generous bedrooms, including a spacious heritage suite with a king-sized bed, open fireplace and double spa. Your accommodation includes a full cooked and continental breakfast featuring tasty locally sourced Tasmanian ingredients, many of them home-grown and hand picked daily from our kitchen garden and orchard. We also have a fully licenced bar and lounge area. With roses trailing over its convict-made brickwork, the picture-perfect two-storey Racecourse Inn (built 1860), is steeped in the history of Longford, itself one of the first villages settled in Tasmania. For those interested in history, the building itself contains one of only three barrel-vaulted ceilings in Tasmania, and is furnished with period antiques. Our beautiful accommodation is only minutes away from Longford’s main tourist attractions, including The World Heritage listed Brickendon Farm Village and Woolmers Estate, home to the National Rose Garden. Other historic buildings in the district include Entally House, Franklin House and Clarendon House. We’re only a short drive from the picturesque Tamar Valley wine route, and some of the best fly fishing lakes and streams in Australia, including Brumby’s Creek, The Macquarie and South Esk Rivers. The Racecourse Inn is the perfect base for touring Northern Tasmania; only 15 minutes from Launceston airport, 20 minutes from the centre of Launceston and one hour from the Spirit of Tasmania terminal in Devonport.
Lovely visit to a beautiful historic inn, with thoughtful, charming and accommodating hosts. The interiors are so full of delightful period features each time you look around there is another wee gem to see. The 2 bed rooms had everything we needed, and are set up with sitting areas for relaxing and drinking a quiet cup of tea. The garden provides a tranquil spot to explore or sit. The produce from the hens, vegetable and fruit areas were used to make our breakfast. Highly recommended. I hope to get back sometime.

Brickendon is a magnificent family owned farming estate offering a unique insight into Australia's colonial history. With numerous convict built farm buildings, beautiful heritage gardens surrounding the main Georgian homestead, friendly farm animals, 3km of river frontage and delightful self contained historic and farm cottages.
Stayed one night in the Coachman's Cottage earlier this month with husband & two adult children. We all had so much fun exploring the cottage, gardens and all the historic buildings, including the cute little church. Everything is so well maintained. Can't recommend this place highly enough!

Wow what a gorgeous caravan park. Beautifully maintained and close to shops etc. we saw a review whining about having to key for showers but seriously 20c for three minutes - it just ensures there is hit water fur everyone when the jerk is full and you aren’t waiting due half an hour with tired kids for a shower. Obviously the person who made that stupid review has never lived on tank water or through a drought. This is a friendly beautiful park - even the dump point is pretty planted out with sweet smelling roses.

Woolmers Estate is a World Heritage listed convict property. We have fully-self contained Heritage accommodation on site. To view the main Historical House we offer guided tours at special scheduled tour times. Self guided tours of the outbuildings, grounds and gardens are also on offer.
We loved this UNESCO world heritage listed home which is a stunning example of Tasmanian colonial life. Dating back to 1817, the property remained with the Archer family until 1995. It is a true time capsule as so much is original. The home is a real treasure trove, stuffed full or antiques and in amazing condition. The garden is beautiful year round, but at its best in November when the roses are in bloom. Hard to believe that the garden is maintained by volunteers! The guide on the house tour was so knowledgeable and really wove the story of the Thomas Archer family. I recommend booking your tour to make sure you don’t miss out! We’re looking forward to going back to do the convict tour soon. This is a piece of Australian history that must not be missed!
