Not told about two for £16.OO offer

Reviewed By patricia b

Visited first in 2021 for carvery very impressed. Returned this week had nice Prawn Cocktail. Others had Leek and potato soup said very nice. Main orders one fish and chips said nice.two ordered Steak and ale pie very nice except asked for potatoes instead of the chips stated on the menu and they came up as new potatoes cut up instead of being left whole so looked messy and the peas that came with these meals the small amount barely a tablespoon of peas very poor.. Found the day after our visit they were doing two meals for £16.OO which included our two Steak and Ale pies but we were not offered that or told about it. One who had the Curry said nice but the Nan bread was too thick and very doughy. Upon arrival there it took them 45 minutes to deliver our starters yet we’re not busy at all.Had to ask the young girl server what the soup was she said did not know had to go and ask. That comes down to poor management surely? The place is beautiful but letdown by staff that do not seem to match the ambience of this place.Shame really.

Premier Inn Harwich hotel

It may be one of the Haven Ports, but there's a lot more to Harwich than boats and water, as a stay at Premier Inn Hotel Harwich will tell you. We're great as a stopover if you're catching the ferry, but there's also plenty to do here even if you're not sailing away. Spend your morning wandering the picturesque streets of Harwich, stumbling across some delightful buildings that date back centuries. Or catch a train to Colchester, Britain's oldest town, to see the castle or visit the world-famous zoo. The Edwardian seaside town Felixstowe is nearby too. Then come back to the hotel for some tasty food at our Brewers Fayre restaurant and a lovely, comfy bed.

Absolutely fantastic hotel and restaurant!

Three of us and two dogs stayed one night in this excellent inn. Great welcome (even though we were over an hour later than we'd advised) and they happily pushed out dinner reservation back for us. Our room was perfect with a double bed and a single in a separate alcove with big TV, plenty of tea making facilities (and coffee machine), biscults and bottled water. The bathroom was a bit odd having a shower but no shower cubical (so the whole room got wet - and you got wet feet going back in after!) but it was clean and modern with good toiletries. Dinner was excellent served by a couple of really lovely waitresses and was extremely tasty from an interesting varied menu with a lot of fish options. Two of us had the roasted skate wing which was really delicious with wonderful homemade chips and a different and interesting salad. We were too full for deserts! Excellent Lillys and Aspalls cider on draft. We slept very well and breakfast (ordered the night before) was a large and brilliantly cooked quality Full English with plenty of tea and toast. Fantastic experience, would be be straight back if in the area again!

The Pier is situated in the heart of Harwich old town over looking the harbour and the confluence of the Stour and Orwell estuaries. The hotel has 14 bedrooms, several looking out over the coast (a stay in the Mayflower suite is a must). Worth mentioning are the fabulous sunsets along the river Stour. The restaurant is open from 12 noon with the full menu available until the evening, there's also no need to book but call if you'd prefer to reserve a table. On the ground floor, you'll find the NAVYÄRD bar and terrace, famous for its gin library of 140 gins. The bar is open all day and serves breakfast and light lunch and in the evening is a popular meeting place.

The house was perfect for what we wanted and we were so impressed as the photos / description on the website doesn't do the venue justice. Chelsea was amazing as our host, no request was too much and she was always on hand to help and provide any information. Our breakfast waitress (scottish lady) was also great as we had a lot of requests & changes to the menu and she got everything correct and with a smile on her face. The food was to a high standard across the afternoon tea, canapes, dinner & breakfast - we all left very happy (and full). Our gluten free guests also felt very catered for and looked after. I'd also like to thank the events / reception team that I've dealt with over email as the booking process has been seamless and they're always quick to reply, which is greatly appreciated. Overall we would be delighted to stay again and would recommend to friends & family looking to book.
