Reviewed By 790gertbWe had a wonderful week at Thym & Chocolat. It is an oasis of peace, a very nice room with a great terrace with a beautiful view. You really feel at home here. Patrice and Caroline give you a warm feeling and are very hospitable. They really make an effort for breakfast with homemade products. In addition, they give advice about fine restaurants in the area (Caroline even makes a reservation for you if you want), when it rained our things were in the house when we got home so that they stayed dry and ... not to forget, we could enjoy your guitar playing, Patrice. Thank you for giving us this wonderful holiday feeling in the Cevennes. This place is also a good base for trips in the area

Three brothers, all three Barbus (bearded), had the idea to build an hotel restaurant in 1968 on part of the homestead. In 1980, to meet growing demand, they created The Residence Les 3 Barbus overlooking the Valley Camisard. All rooms are oriented to the valley where the river flows to the Gardon. The Restaurant is located at 100m in the main part of the Hotel 3 Barbus. Guests can dine cuisine based on Mediterranean products and Cevennes. The pool is open from June to September, offers a moment of relaxation under the southern sun. Nearby access to the Tree climbing park 300m, 5 km from the bamboo, the Cave of Trabuc, the Desert Museum, 5 km from the little train of the Cevennes, Anduze pottery, 15 km from the Corniche des Cevennes ...
Exceptional welcoming hotel

The location is attractive but it is the welcome from the owner and his family that was special and made such a good expression from the start of our short one night stay. Even better was the excellent dinner cooked by the owner. Definitely a place to stay and enjoy.

Reviewed By Ghyslaine BUne de ces adresses qu'on garderait volontiers pour soi car ce qui est rare est précieux. Mais je ne résiste pas à partager, en espérant qu'elle donnera à d'autres le plaisir qui fut le nôtre... Un séjour d'une dizaine de jours qu'on aurait volontiers prolonger alors qu'habituellement nous sommes plutôt du style itinérants : Une belle chambre joliment décorée, une literie confortable, un jardin-terrasse pour le petit déjeuner ou le repas... Mais la plu-value ici ce sont avant tout les hôtes : très sympathique, attentifs, généreux, on sent que ces gens aiment recevoir, échanger, cela avec beaucoup de délicatesse et de prévenance. Les petits déjeuners sont somptueux, entièrement faits maison (confitures, biscuits d'Elena, salade de fruits fraîche...), les repas concoctés par Hervé tout simplement savoureux. Niché entre Anduze et Alès, à un saut de puce de la bambouseraie, du musée du désert, le lieu permet également un accès rapide à de nombreuses activités. Et il y en a pour tous les goûts : concerts, musées, sites naturels, exposition s diverses, spectacles nocturnes en plein air, animations culturelles. On ne s'ennuie jamais ! Entre deux sorties, la piscine en pierre naturelle nous a permis de farnienter au frais. Une adresse que nous recommanderons à ceux que nous aimons.

The Hotel "La Residence Les 3 Barbus" is 3 minutes walk from the river. The property is situated in Cevennes National Park and features a seasonal outdoor pool, terrace and onsite restaurant. All rooms feature air-conditioning, a private bathroom with bath or shower and free toiletries, and views of the mountains, pool or river. Free Wi-Fi and parking are available onsite. The location of the property is ideal for enjoying countryside hiking. The exotic garden of Bambouseraie de Prafrance and the caves of Trabuc are located just 3 km away. Shops and bars can be found in Anduze, 5 km from the property.

First impressions of the hotel was not great as it really does look extremely jaded from the outside however the inside is really beautifully and tastefully decorated and all aspects from both the hotel and the adjacent Residence ( which is where we stayed) have the most magnificent views. A further reason for being undecided is that when we arrived at the hotel at about 13.30 the doors were locked and a notice stating that the reception would not be open till 1700. It was hot day , we had driven 4 hrs and really needed a drink and a shower. On investigative around the side of the hotel we came across a really charming lady in the laundry room who told us she would find someone immediately. We went back round to the hotel entrance and were met by a not so friendly lady(owner / manager who said that they were closed till five and anyway our room would not be ready till 16.30. She did however agree that we could use the swimming pool until our room was ready. We were taken to the adjacent Residence which by a male ( Manager/ owner) who was equally unfriendly he showed us where the pool was and begrudgingly went back to the hotel for two beers. At about 1600 a very nice lady came to show us to our room which was very pleasant,spacious and a balcony with the magnificent views. On our first night the restaurant was closed so a short trip was taken to a nearby town. The following morning we were realised that we were the only guests but had the warmest of welcomes from the lady who we had met previously in the laundry room. Breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed a relaxing day at the pool. We stayed two nights in total and chose not eat in the hotel on the second evening. The reasons for my undecided opinion of the three beards is primarily down to the two owners and the lack of ambiance. However the three other staff members encountered were helpful and friendly.
