Top Notch Hotel and Staff

Reviewed By Momof2CollegeGirls

The hotel looked very new and well maintained. I was shocked when talking with the front desk person she said it was over 20 years old. It had a major renovation a few years ago. The staff clearly has taken good care of it. The lady who was managing the breakfast area was super friendly to everyone and she scrubbed a chair cushion that was stained to make it look like new. Many guests seem to be regulars who travel through the area often and the staff talked with all of them. Best Hampton Inn that we have ever stayed at!

Overpriced during Delfest

Booked late and was forced to take a room with Jacuzzi - so was charged a crazy rate - over $200 including taxes. Did not use the jacuzzi - but the guy in the room above did. Apparently he left the water running - which flowed through ceiling into my bathroom. I got to listen to his water running late into the night. The room itself was fine - bed was comfortable - checkin and out was easy. The hotel is located on outskirts of town. Best food option is the local Sheetz. Nuff said.

Savage River Lodge

Comfort - Privacy - Relaxation. We often hear these words when people talk about the Savage River Lodge. Nestled within more than 700 acres of Western Maryland's Savage River State Forest, the lodge is a peaceful retreat from a busy world. Once you're here, you'll find all the elements of relaxation and comfort--fantastic food, sink-into accommodations, your own private cabin, and exceptional hospitality. Whether you prefer to watch nature from your rocking chair or spend your day in pursuit of your favorite outdoor activity, you'll take home the spirit of the forest...and the Savage River Lodge. Our eighteen luxury cabins and the nearby lodge building, surrounded by the forest, convey a rustic, lived-in comfort. Our amenities and appointments, however are decidedly upscale and infused with a genuinely friendly and relaxed hospitality.

Beautiful spot! LOVE the yurt and hiking trails!

Reviewed By MO6686

My mom and I stayed two nights in Yurt 1 in May. We loved the beautiful setting and the primo-glamping yurt set-up. The yurt has EVERYTHING you could want -- a super comfy king-sized bed, cozy seating around a fireplace, a breakfast nook and coffee/tea/kitchenette set-up, a fancy bathroom, a great porch, and comfy robes. The staff is great and will help you get anything else you want or need. We really enjoyed exploring the hiking trails on the property (especially the 2.31 mile Bodhi "green" trail). Also VERY dog friendly. So if you have a pup and are thinking about bringing it, definitely do so! They have a great fire pit and lots of outdoor seating and spots to be outside sprinkled all around the property. We ate at the lodge both nights we were there, which was convenient. The food was good (semi gourmet and somewhat creative) and staff friendly. (FYI: the food was pretty slow coming out both nights. Not sure if that was irregular or not. We didn't mind since we were just enjoying the place and lodge environs, which are also lovely, but just mentioning for meal planning purposes!) The breakfast is just a muffin and small juice. So suggest either ordering extra off their bfast menu, or just bringing your own breakfast to supplement. The yurts have great decks looking into the woods that make for prime breakfast real estate. Savage River Lodge is wonderfully secluded on a dirt road a few miles off the nearest highway. It's a great getaway for anyone who is looking for a (very!) comfortable way to get into nature for a few days. Great hiking nearby at Rocky Mt State Park, on the GAP or C&O Canal Trail, and a bit further away near Deep Creek. Also recommend popping into Cumberland while there for lunch or ice cream and a walk around the Washington District of old mansions. Definitely recommend!!

A little creepy a little charming

Reviewed By Karen-BowieMD

Stayed here before hitting the Tracks & Yaks the next morning. We got in at 4:30 on a Saturday. Thought it was weird that the girl at the desk pulled my reservation out without even asking my name. All the shops close by 5:00 pm (was a Saturday) so we didn't have anything to do. Took a little walk around the town and was saddened that so many businesses were boarded up and vacant. Had an early dinner at Toasted Goat (food was good; wine was awful). Went up to the room to watch a movie and the tv didn't work. Message said to call the front desk, but guess what? NO PHONES IN THE ROOM! We called on our cell phone and there never was any answer. There was a creepy doll looking out of the upstairs window which was actually kind of fun. The basement "museum" was kind of weird. There were no counters in the bathroom to put anything. Overall, I'd say it was clean, but definitely needs a lot more renovation.
