Our hotel "Gruene Tanne", Mandelholz, has been founded and run by my family for more than a hundred years. Given the experience that comes along with such a long-standing tradition my employees and I are most proficient ensuring a high gastronomic standard in order to preserve a place of cordial hospitality and unique ambiance. Our guests will find Mandelholz one the most comfortable accommodations in this altitude of the Harz mountains - not least for the natural amenities of the surrounding countryside which is worth exploring in every season of the year: hiking through the Harz forests, climbing the Brocken as Heine and Goethe did, taking a bath in the Mandelholz reservoir and skiing on the cross-country ski runs are just a few of the numerous favourable outdoor activities our region is suitable for. In addition we offer our guests to frequent the hotel's own wellness house to enjoy soothing massages, sauna and cosmetic treatments. Furthermore our restaurant invites our guests to try some of the delicacies of our local cuisine and provides a great range of homemade cakes and pies. Lastly I would like to draw your attention to the cultural events taking place regularly in our house: e.G. Cabaret, revue and chamber music. Reviewed By 459francoisrThere is a lift. The room was sufficiently spacious with a good bed. In the bathroom everything worked properly and there was heating. Dinner was delicious and not expensive. We arrived at half past seven in the evening while the kitchen would close at nine. No problem, except that we were still at the table later than nine o'clock. The waitress checked every five minutes if she could clean up. And when we asked for another coffee we got a sigh. This was the only hotel in the Harz where we could not freely choose where to sit for breakfast. Although we were early, parts of the breakfast were no longer available such as cheese, bacon, eggs and toast. I had to ask for it and it was supplemented minimalistic.

Reviewed By ColchenThe hotel is located in a cute little town called Elend. Unfortunately next to the towns main road and only circle, with traffic being immense. Main noise coming from motor bikes, which I found out is quite common in the Harz. If you are used to quiet surroundings, better look for a place far away from any main road. The family owned house has 2 double rooms and 4 appartments, looks nice from the outside and has a cafe attached. Check in (only from 3-5pm and with appointment) was professional, kind and friendly. Plus point: I was shown to my room and got an explanation of the extras included/ main handling. The appartments and double rooms can be reached over a seperate entrance. On the ground floor is a common room with a sofa and long dining table. Parking is behind the house and free of charge. Internet is available free of charge in the common room with connection getting worse the higher you get up in the house.I was able to get access in my room (slow and with many disconnections). The room itself is huge, very modern furnished, super clean and has everything what your heart desires. A double bed, a small eating table with two chairs, a small seating area with a flatscreen, a huge bathroom (only with shower though), a balcony and a fully furnished kitchen site with dishwasher, microwave, water heater, coffee machine, toaster, dishes, cutlery and 2 cooking stoves. I totally loved it. Theres one big catch though… the double room is located on the top floor with sloped walls. This looks great but coming to the summer months, heat is a huge problem. Even though all windows are fitted with black rollos (except the bathroom window which was fitted with a white one and gives you a free of charge sauna) the room is heating up extremely. Usually I wouldnt mind, but travelling with a small child, who needs to sleep early… good luck! Could be easily fixed with installing an air con. The appartments are on the first floor with normal walls, so guessing they do not have the same problem. The location itself is good to explore the closer surroundings. Blankenburg and Wernigerode are an appr. 30min drive away with its burgs and castles, parks etc. For example BURG UND FESTUNG REGENSTEIN in Blankenburg is beautiful. The BROCKEN is an 1 hrs drive away or by train around 2hrs. All in all I would def recommend the Cafe & Ferienwohnungen Eli Lenti, but not for single persons travelling with a small child (heat, internet access, noise).

passable pour une nuit d'étape
Reviewed By Xavier DCette Pension nous a servi d'étape pour notre trek dans le Harz. La chambre et la salle de bain/wc étaient assez petites et vieilles. Le lit était trop court pour moi mais cela n'a pas posé de problème à mon épouse. La ventilation de la salle de bain fait un tel boucan qu'on hésite à l'utiliser pour ne pas déranger les autres pensionnaires. Le propriétaire est très sympathique et ouvert à la conversation. Le petit déjeuner est très copieux, ce qui compte beaucoup pour des randonneurs.
