This hotel has some excellent reviews here on Tripadvisor and I was really looking forward to staying here and adding another to the list, having considered staying in the past. Although prices weren’t especially cheap it seemed worth paying a little extra for this hotel’s idyllic location, the promise of rural peace and tranquility, and the dining options. I stayed for one night in a “Deluxe” room at the very end of the season. It turned out on arrival that the restaurant was closed because staff were celebrating the end of the season, and loud music blasting from the hotel bar across what I’m sure is normally a peaceful village instantly took away the very things that make it so appealing in the first place. I had to wait a little while to check in while staff were presumably preoccupied with the party continuing in the restaurant. That said, I was made to feel very welcome by the friendly and polite lady who checked me in, and shown to my room on the top floor which was excellent. Everything was immaculately clean and the room furnished and decorated thoughtfully and to a high standard. Sadly the WiFi (in my room at least) was next to useless and couldn’t even load basic web pages reliably, and with very little in the way of phone signal here that isn’t ideal. As the restaurant was closed I was recommended to try “Le Petit Fort” across the Square for dinner which was superb, and really the only alternative in this small village. By now the party had moved out into the square, and I thought it made for a nice village atmosphere to see people enjoying themselves and boules being played, but of course as the drinks continued to flow the volume went up and the noise outside the window continued until very late. I was particularly tired after a long day’s travelling from Toulouse and I really couldn’t relax in my room at all. A very pleasant continental breakfast from a buffet was enjoyed on the terrace the following morning, and I have to say that the additional charge for breakfast was waived without my having to ask, which was a gesture I appreciated. Being quiet the hotel seemed to be run single-handedly by one lady, who was always a pleasure to deal with and consistently tried her best to be helpful. As with all my TripAdvisor reviews I try to say as I find whilst giving a fair and balanced view of my experience. I don’t want to appear mean or to begrudge the hard working staff of a restaurant the well deserved opportunity to celebrate the end of a busy season and I can see why Auberge de Banne is so highly rated by other guests, but I would respectfully suggest that if your staff are going to have a loud late-night party then you are not in a position to open the hotel to paying guests, or at least that those guests should be advised prior to arriving and offered quieter rooms at the back of the hotel (which was virtually empty). I can imagine that this is usually an excellent place to stay, but on this occasion I’m afraid that they didn’t quite live up to my expectations. After all, a hotel is primarily a place where guests expect to be able to rest.

les plats cuisinés faits maison sont d'une rare qualité dans un espace de verdure inégalable, ce restaurant mérite le détour et d'y revenir. Les prix sont très bas pour une cuisine sur place. L'accueil est très sypmathique et familial

In Southern Ardèche, this former(old) Magnanerie built in a park of 4000 m ² was formerly place of breeding of silkworms dating the 18th century. She(It) is now reconverted to comfortable guest houses; situated near the Gorges(Breasts) of Ardèche and valley of Chassezac in a grand frame(executive), we benefit from a soft Southern climate between the Cévennes and Ardèche and from a very exceptional natural and architectural environment. Since our house, you can discover our beautiful region on foot, in bike either still by car. We also propose you the supply of a lunch on reservation during your excursions. In our table d'hôte, we shall treat you with our products essentially stemming from our garden or from local producers. On request

We stayed at the gîte emeraude for a week and it was a joy. The stone gîte itself is very complete and spacious, with everything you need on one floor. There is a large terrace in the shade, the garden and swimming pool are lovely, the view fantastic and the surroundings wonderful and peaceful. It’s on a lot with only two other gîtes, so there’s a lot of privacy. Plus, host Claire is really friendly and gracious, with a lot of humour and class. There is so much more I can say, all good things, but basically all you need to know is that we recommend Les Clèdes wholehartedly.
