a perfect place to book, with spectacular views. It is a 1 star hostel, and is exactly what you can expect from the facilities and the treatment of the owners. It is an old family house with a small and old reform to be a hostel. the termites ate the wood (it is solved) but you hear everything and everyone when you are in bed, the bathroom has mold, it is small and you have not worried about it. The room has no rustic style and we found a mosquito crushed on the wall. The owner did not care if we were there or not, we arrived at 13:00 and the room was not ready, we had to wait until 24:30, in a hostel with 10 rooms, with 2 cleaning people. if you're lucky you can have a view of the promenade and the beach, but if you're lucky, it's your turn to the patio of the bar. the room key was bigger than any pants pocket, it is necessary to go with a woman with a large bag or you may have a problem. There are no plugs on the wall and there is only one power strip for the television and an empty fridge that makes noise at night. Any other guest who arrives in the room after you, will wake you up from the noise in an old wooden house with termites. the breakfast is fine, although it is getting more quantity as it ends, it seems that they think that you are going to eat it all. the breakfast hours are from 9am to 11am, very strange hours even to be Spanish. Pets are allowed, with an extra € 10 / night, and gives you permission to get in and out, there is no service for pets, no water bowls, food bowl ... just get in and out! My recommendation: call to get a room overlooking the beach, be as little as possible in the hotel and when you go to sleep it's too late for you to be the one who bothers and not the bothered. and remember that the room key in the size of a baby's arm, you need to do something with that, carry a backpack or even your wife.

Agroturismo Basarte located in Bakio, is a "green" environment, where the main activity is viticulture, carried out with the utmost respect for the environment. Easily accessible, its proximity and ideal location, (400 m from the town center and 1.5 km from the beach), you are surrounded by vineyards and the setting makes it a perfect place to enjoy the tranquility of nature. Our house has 5 bedrooms, two of which are capable of adding an extra bed. All the rooms are exterior and bright, the furniture and traditional décor are cheerful and sunny, creating a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. Caring for the environment is vital to our way of life. Therefore, the house has an innovative and sustainable heating system, innovative and environmentally friendly, heating the water with a wood pellet fueled boiler.
We stayed for 4 nights in June during an incredible heatwave. We were grateful to have such pleasant accommodation as we were confined indoors for the hottest part of the days, due to my risk of sunburn on my Irish skin. Our large terrace with wonderful panoramic views was a delight. A small omission - the room did not have enough storage - some drawers would be good and we would have liked a table on the terrace. The two sisters work incredibly hard and produce great wine and even marvellous beef tomatoes, which are left for a simple breakfast with good juice, bread and coffee. They gave us tips on local restauranrts and also recommended Restaurant Mugarra in Bilbao, where we had the best meal on our whole trip in the Basque Country so we were very grateful for that. If you want a restful stay in immaculately clean, tasteful and comfortable accommodation, with the best hosts - stay at Ados Basarte Agroturismo.

Our purpose to visit Gaztelugatxe was nature, hiking trails, topped off by a monastery on top of a mountain on a tiny island. There are many towns with great accommodations within 45-60 minutes of this tiny island, but we decided to choose an off-the-beaten-track apartment. This was one of the best decisions we made on this trip. As the name suggests, it is located in a rural area but it is quite easy to arrive. Clear signs are available on the main road, and lack of heavy traffic does help in making slow turns on the winding roads if you so desire. The exterior façade hides the newly-minted rooms, replete with modern furnishings and furniture. The rooms can easily accommodate couples, and was spotless. Bakio is only about 10 minute drive away, giving you excellent options for beach, surfing, restaurants, super markets, banking, etc. Overall, I recommend Aparmentos Turisticos Rurales Ureta as the ideal accommodation for any trip around Galtelugatxe.

We went for just one night and it was perfect! I wish we could have stayed longer :) We stayed in a newly refurbished first floor apartment, with a great view to the sea and the mountains. The location of the house is great! a short ride by car from Bakio, but far enough to seem that you are in a very peaceful and beautiful place! The bed was very confortable and the toilet was huge with a shower and a bathtube! Also the manager was very nice and she did try to accomodate us as best as she could :) We loved it!

Volveremos
