Casa Rural Los Helechos

Welcome in the "House of ferns"The traditional family house, “House of Ferns“ lies in Agulo, in the north of the Canary Island of Gomera. The name takes its origin from the patio which is traditional in the old cultural houses and is, as a matter of fact surrounded by ferns.A wonderful oasis of tranquility and relaxationIn the various individual appartments (incl. kitchen and shower room) which have been renovated in the traditional style, you can enjoy a little escapism from the touristic hussle bussle. The tranqiulity, the ambiente and the excellent service, guarantee a perfect base for your holiday activities. From the roof terrace (with sun-loungers) and some appartments there are overwhelming views of the sea and the neighbouring island of Tenerife with the highest mountain in Spain, “Teide”.The village of Agulo with its unusual location on the cliffs of the sea is known as ´The Pearl of Gomera`.It provides a perfect basecamp for hiking and excursions. Many of the most beautiful hiking routes begin either from Agulo or the neighbouring village of Hermigua. The national Park Garajonay is a 30-minute drive away. We look forward to spoiling you!!The house is under German managment with fluent English speakers.

Perfect location and delightful hosts

We enjoyed two weeks in studio apartment 5 which is at the top of the house with views over sea and mountains on three sides. It was quiet and very comfortable with an excellent wi fi signal. It was wonderful to watch the ever changing moods of Teide from our window whilst sat up in bed and a rainy day was enhanced by the dramatic view of La cascade de La vica de Agulo cascading down the cliff face. Agulo deserves it’s ambition to be the most beautiful village in Spain. It is exceptionally located and quite charming with it’s narrow cobbled streets, swept daily. Our hosts, Josephine and her husband were genuinely friendly and welcoming and we felt very pampered with regular room cleaning during our stay. Thank you for a memorable holiday.

Las Casas del Chorro

Las Casas del Chorro is a finca with six holiday houses in the context of rural tourism, integrated in the nature and only 2.3 km away from the visitors centre of the Garajonay National Park. It invites you to take a rest. Las Casas del Chorro preserve the charm of a traditional canarian finca, surrounded by an exuberant vegetation, with four magnificent viewpoints. Each house of approximately 50 sq m accommodates up to four persons in two bedroooms. Besides it has a bathroom, a living room with an open, equipped kitchen and a terrace with amazing views into the nature. The decoration is homely, comfortable, with furniture made of teak, television and internet access by WiFi. You may discover the whole finca which has a size of six hectares. Observe at this idyllic site amidst impressive scenery and vegetation different birds of prey, wild duck and geese. At night there is a special attraction: Watch the starry sky without disturbing lights! It is a peaceful and loving spot: Far away from the big cities, a place you feel that the clock is pausing just entering it. A place of pure air and cosiness that makes you wish that you never have to leave. Las Casas del Chorro enchant with their magic, with their harmony in the nature.

The most perfect holiday!

Wow!! First of all, the island of La Gomera is absolutely gorgeous, the landscape and scenery really blew my mind and I’m already planning another visit to the island. I couldn’t recommend visiting La Gomera more highly. The apartments at Las Casas Del Chorro were so quaint, relatively remote and absolutely beautiful. Finding it was easy and the staff were lovely, keeping in contact and handing over keys, showing us around etc was very smooth. I stayed here for 4 days for a birthday trip and the staff really kindly provided us with a complimentary bottle of wine and a little note to wish me happy birthday, this was such a nice gesture. Not only that but the staff also text me on my birthday to wish me many happy returns! They were so helpful and very accommodating. The apartment came with a small hob if you wanted to cook, plenty of crockery and they even gave us a little welcome pack with coffee, milk and bread! The apartment had a TV which was handy for the evenings to help us wind down, the bedrooms came with plenty of blankets (it got chilly in the evenings), there was plenty of storage, the bathroom facilities were great, everything was so clean and the view was amazing!! We felt very lucky to stay here and even more so by the fact it is so close to the town of Agulo which was beautiful. The apartments are next to Mirador De Abrante, one of the many lookout points (highly recommend). If you do stay here, you won’t regret it!!

Villa Delfines

Watch the sunrise while having breakfast in the bedroom's terrace, observe the moon and it's reflection over the sea with a glass of wine and doze with the breeze and sounds of the ocean. It's large garden with fruit trees is ideal for barbecues. Former family house, renovated into two paired duplex, though it maintains an unmistakable traditional ambience with thick stone walls. This two cosy villas are in the oceanfront of a cliff in the village of Lepe, a small farmers' settlement surrounded by the ocean and before an impressive rock wall by Agulo. It is 800 meters away from Santa Catalina beach and Hermigua Old Davit with it's natural swimming-pool. From their top terraces in front of the bedrooms they have excellent ocean views with Tenerife and Teide volcano as an incomparable background for breathtaking sunrises. In the main floor of this canarian style house are the kitchens and living-rooms of each villa, and in the top floor the bedrooms with wooden floor and roofs, bathroom and the large terraces.

Next to the sea

Very pleasant typically Canarian house, which is divided into 2 parts, a and b, both having two floors, so basically is split down the middle, with a common entrance hall. Shared use of the garden, though when we visited the BBQ did not look operational, and I wouldn't have chosen to sit in the garden. Nice balcony off the bedroom area with sun loungers, table and chairs and a telescope - though it was misty so we didn't try to use it. Nice added extra though. The tv is upstairs in the bedroom area, not in the lounge, which we didn't use at all, as we spent most of the time on the balcony looking across towards Tenerife. We were surprised to find an extra shower room/loo on the ground floor which hadn't been provided in the property description, so that was a nice added bonus too. Very pleasant stay, though I wouldn't really like to try to do too much cooking in the kitchen. i only attempted breakfast, as there is no where nearby to get this, but that is exactly what I expected from this more remote location. Whilst there was a microwave provided, plus a hob, there was not one bowl we could have used in the microwave, as only metal ones provided. The addition of a glass or plastic one would be good. I had to use the fruit bowl from the dining table to make scrambled eggs. :) Good food in the nearest restaurant above the beach - bit of a hike back up the hill, but worth it. Good area for walking, but a car essential to get there - A bit of a pain on arrival: You pick up the key from the hotel a couple of miles away then set off again to find the property, so I imagine it would be very impractical without a car. If you don't want to use your car after arrival then Stock up on your groceries in the supermarket near the ferry in San Sebastian before arrival at the property. Spar shop within about two miles, but would be a hike on foot. The property is in a small terrace in a little hamlet on the Cliffside, with a mixture of holiday homes and some local people and a small path leads past the other houses to villa Delfines. shame about the dog poo we had to dodge each time we used the path - which is not the fault of this properties owners, but be aware in the dark.
