Ollantaytambo has some of the oldest continuously-occupied buildings in South America. Once a stronghold of Inca resistance to Spanish colonization, it's remarkably well-preserved. Many travelers visit Ollantaytambo because it's the beginning of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, but don't rush through—the ruins are fascinating.

My husband, brother & wife, two adult daughters and one adult son enjoyed our stay here in the middle of this cultural City. The host was accommodating, arranged a trip to ruins, and transport to the train as well as recommending some fun and interesting restaurants.

Unfortunately the room we booked for 5 people was not available once we came there so they said one off us had to sleep alone with someone else. This was not a nice way to start. We had to complain in order to change. The day after my girlfriend got sick and stayed 2 hours after check out. I had understood that this was okay since she was bad otherwise we would have leaves the room. They made us charge the double amount for the whole room just for two people staying there 2 hours. The hostel was empty so no one really needed that room. I understand that there is an need to pay when you stay after check out. But with a misunderstanding, a sick girlfriend and an almost empty hotel we should not have payed that much. I recommend you come here if you want something cheap but make sure to not get swindled and get what you booked for!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Killari Hostal. For the price, it is a great value! We had a private room with our own bathroom- with a great shower and hot water! The hosts were great- they cleaned our room for us and also offer breakfast every morning which was a nice treat. The breakfast room overlooks one of the mountains, it is beautiful! The location itself is also great. It is right off the main square in Ollantaytambo and only about a 10 minute walk to the train station. Would definitely recommend!

What an amazing visit I had at this hostel. Luzmila took care of me and a group of 10 like we were family to them. She understood we were tired and made the check in process easy for us. Breakfast was delicious and She explained the ingredients and the culture aspect of the meal. I was very happy with our stay and I am sure if I come back to Ollantaytambo, I would definitely stay here again.

Unfortunately my experience was soured by the staff in this family-run hostal. They are unhelpful, rude and verging on hostile. I was scowled at for not having smaller change while paying. The boy went to another shop for change without saying anything and then returned, leaving my change on the counter without even looking at me. I had a similar experience with the girl as I was leaving - she didn't even say goodbye. The father was too busy watching football to stand up and help when the toilet wasn't working. They insisted on ridiculous details for registration (such as my marital status). There was also dust and debris on the bedsheets. I got out after one night!
