The second most populous town in North Germany, Bremen brings the high-tech, science and space industries together beneath a truly metropolitan backdrop. In a city where innovation, beauty and sophistication meet, it's impossible not to feel the life force. In this 1,200-year-old Hanseatic city, visit the Schlachte Promenade on the River Weser, the full-sized Columbus Space Module of the International Space Station and the Universum Science Center. Oh, and "Hanseatic" refers to an alliance of trading cities in the 13th-17th centuries. But you probably knew that.

Great hostel in a fairly central location, good prices (although the breakfast selection was fairly disappointing for €7!). Clean rooms with both a toilet and shower room in the room which was very convenient. The staff were very friendly and helpful and happy to speak in either German or English. There were also options to check-in earlier or later if needed. Lockers in the room were a good size but my main criticism is that the rooms didn't have enough plug sockets, nor sockets in good locations near the bed (but only a minor thing). Also a good shared kitchen that was fairly well equipped - including free tea/coffee in the morning!

Apartment hotel. Very spacious and comfortable accommodation including large lounge/dining area and kitchen. Friendly and helpful owners and staff. In quiet residential area on edge of town so no traffic noise. 3 restaurants within easy (5 minutes) walking distance. We ate at two of them, the one owned by the same family and a Greek restaurant. Both very good but note in Greek restaurant cash needed, and they brought main course before we had finished starter- and eastern Mediterranean restaurant in Cologne did the same thing. Although a good drive into the centre, seemed to be plenty of parking outside the really interesting old town.

I have nothing good to say about this place. The host was in a bad mood, she took the money, gave us a key and ran out, so we didn't have a chance to ask anything about area, markets. Bedroom and bathroom were very cold, my wife slept with clothes :D

We booked a night through Best program. The e-mail we received did not write anything about check-in deadline hour. It was only written that the check-in starts at 15h00. We arrived there at 23h00. No one was there to open to us. We called, he insulted us and hanged up.
