Starting from Milford-on-Sea, this is a two-mile walk alongthe coast, ending at Hurst Castle, an ancient monument open year 'round, with a cafe. A ferry runs from the village of Keyhaven from Easter through summer months.
We had some child free time and so got away for a couple of days and found ourselves having a lovely walk alongside the Solent. Paths were a bit wet (it’s a soggy November!!!) but views pleasant.

It’s a nice walk up on the hill taking in the views. Plenty of space to park if you avoid a sunny weekend. I parked on the north side just past the Churchillian pub. Walked some of the footpaths looking both north into the South Downs and south with the views across Portsmouth and the Solent. There is a lot of history up here notably the forts but the hill was heavily used during World War Two. Check out the Portsdown Tunnels web page for more info.

This is a lovely walk following the clear chalk stream between the two mills and a really cooling experience on a hot afternoon or balmy Summers evening. In Winter it is equally magic and rewarded with pubs at either end. The Black Boy in Wharf Hill and The Bishop on the Bridge.
