Holland's most modern city began as a fishing village in the 13th century. It was developing into an industrial and trading power when German bombers destroyed the city center and harbor in 1940. However, Rotterdam's unique architecture now brings many visitors to bike around this urbane, cosmopolitan city. Old Dutch-style houses can still be found in historic Delfshaven, from where the pilgrims set sail in 1620. Cultural offerings from summer's carnival to classical music give Amsterdam competition.

Visit two very special mills at the Kralings plas! The last Dutch mill thats grinds spices. One of these mills is open for a visit. The the craftsman likes to give the visitors a tour through the mill and explains his craft and this Rotterdam' historic industrial pride. The mill is open every second Saturday of the month and sometimes on Thursdays from 10:00 to 16:00.

Amazing how every little detail is still well preserved. It gives an impressive view on how ‘modern architecture’ was those days To me an absolute highlight of our visit to Rotterdam MUST DO

Rotterdam's White House (Witte Huis) was the tallest office-building in Europe when it was built in 1898, and one of the few buildings in the center of town that survived the bombing raid on May 14,1940 during World War II.
The highest office building in Europe for many decades, Witte Huis is a symbol of the old Rotterdam, being one of the very few major buildings to have survived the WW2 bombing. It is located in the Old Harbour (Oude Haven) and it's an absolute must-see, because it is way more impressive in reality than in the photos. Unfortunately you can't go in, because it is an office building, but you can enjoy a beer or a snack at the cafe at the base of the building.

We had a meetup set at this amazing location, and what a choice it was to host is there... Not only is the architecture amazing, it's the whole atmosphere that breaths success. It hosts many different type of companies & is definitely worth a visit when the opportunity presents itself! ????
