We had visited Heraclea Sintica couple of years ago, and now revisited to check the updates. They have uncovered a lot, including a huge sewage tunnel beneath. They have also uncovered the pavement on the main square but have currently covered it until they have the budget to preserve it. But well this place, once uncovered, is going to be HUGE. The whole hill you can see is a CITY, with an amphitheatre and so much more. It was destroyed during 2 earthquakes (4th and 5th century) and later covered by earth, so it has not gone through much stealing and it is bound to show up something truly amazing. I really can't wait to see more progress here and truly wish that the museum or whoever takes care of financing this can be more successful. There are explanatory signs on the site, including in English, and the guide from the museum who is on place can explain a lot about the site and excavations (think in Bulgarian only though). Make sure to come to the site from the Vanga's site, and you will see the hot sulphur springs enjoyed by the locals (you can dip too, it's free and the water and mud is said to cure many illnesses, so you should not wash yourself 10 hours after dipping in, at least so said the locals who were in there). The whole area around Heraclea Sintica is very much energy-charged, say the locals. So make sure to spend a few hours there.
