Turbary Woods Owl and Bird of Prey Sanctuary

Turbary Woods Owl and Bird of Prey Sanctuary is a pure volunteer based, non profit group of volunteers. The flying display give you the visitors, Children & Adults, the chance to participate in the flying display and have our birds land on your gloved hand as they fly to you for their food. We have a collection of over 80 birds of prey including eagles, hawks, falcons, owls, vultures and more unusual species. All the birds are housed in large open fronted aviaries, sheltered in a woodland setting. We assist conservation and education of these beautiful Birds and we are involved with an average of 50 rescues each year.

Thoroughly enjoyed our day at Turbary Woods today. The sanctuary is right next to a garden centre which has a cafe, which also has toilets. The cafe was reasonably priced and the food was delicious. We were allowed to get really close to the birds and the staff were all friendly and informative and you can see that they are all passionate about the birds. We learnt lots and were encouraged to get involved with the bird display which was really entertaining and interesting, Will definitely visit again, thanks for a great afternoon. Family of four ticket was £18.00, adults £6, children £4 and oap's £4. I think the fees are reasonable as the upkeep of the place must be expensive.

Although we have been on the Lacaster Canal a few times before, this was our first time with Crabtree Narrowboats (and wont be our last-unless we get our own boat). Right from the first phone call, nothing was to much trouble, Mandy and Robert are really lovely people and very passionate about their business. They are very professional and their instruction and handover was excellent, they instilled every confidence that should anything go wrong (which it didnt), it would be sorted straight away. The Narrow boat (Willow) was lovely and very clean, it had eveything we needed and was good to handle. All in all we have a lovely week away from the humdrum of life, very relaxing and met some fantastic people along the way and made new friends. would recommend Crabtree Narrowboats to anyone considering this type of holiday.

Bowland Wild Boar Park

We recently pitched up and stayed two nights at the Bowland wild boar park camp site. The place is lovely and surrounded by nature. The facilities available were great and included; clean and modern shower/toilet block, fire pits, seating, walking trails and camping pods that looked warm and cosy. Dave and Anona were such great hosts. They were friendly and welcoming and very easy to communicate with. They were very understanding and helpful when my girlfriends car had some troubles close to the entrance to the park which we couldn't have sorted out without their support. Will definitely return at some point in the future :)

Beacon Fell Country Park

Been visiting this local, bucolic place since I was a child nearly fifty years ago. Just a great place to walk your dog with family. The visitor centre is great. The cafe sells the best bacon butties. The wood carvings along the trails are fantastic and changing. Sadly the tiger carving has been stolen. It can get muddy with the British weather but wear boots and wrap up and it is great all year round. Took my children here during dusk on Halloween years ago and they loved the 'creepy' tiger woods! It does get busy but if you love dogs and own a dog friendly pooch then you'll all love it.

We visited Brockholes on Saturday to take part in the Dads nature trail with the kids, we completed this in the pouring rain. It was great fun, we enjoyed every minute. The kids wanted to go again today as they’d had so much fun. We enjoyed the North west reptile club event. Great place, we’re already booked on an event next weekend. Keep up the good work.
