Knysna stands out on South Africa's famed Garden Route thanks to the sandstone cliffs that dramatically separate its tranquil lagoon from the pounding surf of the Indian Ocean. It's also home to the country's largest indigenous forest. Hop aboard a ferry for a ride through the scenic highlights. The Millwood Mines at Jubilee Creek, site of a major gold rush in 1885, provide a picturesque spot for a picnic. Be sure to try some local oysters during the renowned annual festival.

Located in the heart of the slow town of Sedgefield, Lake Spa is an oasis of serenity. Lake Spa is perfect escape for a day of pampered rejuvenation. The spa is located on the banks of the Swartvlei Lagoon and offers a vast range of tailored experiences, ranging from pure relaxation to unique wellness journeys. Treatment packages are available for couples along with a diverse spa menu.
I loved that she left me to sleep. These treatments should be relaxing, that is why we go. Most therapist want to know your life story, but Portia did not ask 1 single question, she just pampered me and that is what I needed. Thank you Portia, you know exactly what you are doing...it was wonderful.

A working art studio where the resident artist engages with visitors , provides demonstrations and gives advice to artists and collectors
We were wandering around Knsyna on a sunny afternoon, and happened to pop into Jan’s studio. What began as a chance stop-in turned into a wonderful experience talking with Jan about his interesting life as an artist. He kindly offered us water, coffee, or wine, and made us feel at home while we looked around at his incredibly unique art pieces (all finger-painted!!!). His kind nature was apparent through his artwork and his actions. We really enjoyed talking to him and ended up buying some small pieces and a unique wine cork board. I wish I had pictures to share. An absolute must!!!!!!!!!!

We booked the Moonlight Meander with Judy Dixon over full moon and low tide. It was so fascinating we went back in daylight to explore again.

Brenton-on-Sea is great for walking and sunbathing and is popular with paragliders. A big rock formation, castle Rock, is a favourite fishing spot for locals. Swimming is dangerous because of rip currents.
Spent one night at the Brenton on Sea self catering cottages with my family on our way back from Port Elizabeth. Situated in a secluded area just as you exit knysna coming from Port Elizabeth. Probably one of the best decisions we could have made as a family. The cottage was clean, neat and tidy. Very spacious. Had all the amenities required like a very clean fridge. stove and microwave together with utensils and crockery you can expect from a self catering facility. The view overlooking the ocean was absolutely breathtaking.A restaurant about 300m away served a variety of foods on their menu which was both good value for money and tasty. I would certainly go back for a longer stay and would recommend these cottages to anyone who is looking for peace and tranquility away from the mad rush of city life.

Beautiful setting with a wonderful view to enjoy Ilsa home grown' Big Cheese platter, everthing organic produced. The cheeses, the jams and the hot bread was a very good combination. We had with it a glass of Packwood's Pinot noir, also good choice. Most enjoyable lunch and a must when you are in the region.
