Guys, travelling is one of the best things in our lives and Caucasus is one of the best places in our planet. BUT, you must be aware that, this region is historical and internationally recognised part of Azerbaijan, invaded by Armenia by 1993. By visiting this regions without informing MFA Azerbaijan or local embassies results with BAN of your entrance to Azerbaijan forever even for transit purposes. Kind regards.

This is a small hillside which is burning. Flames come out of the bare earth. You kick the soil, and more flames leap up. Yes, bizarre. Bizarre enough that you might think about coming up with a religious explaination in order to make sense of what your eyes are telling you. In fact, that would be the Zororastian religion. And even today in the run up to Novruz (New Year at the Spring Equinox) in downtown Baku, in among the glizy malls and the brand new skyscrapers, kids still build bonfires at night in the backstreets and jump over them in the centuries-old tradition to symbolise purification. So go to the completely simple and unspoilt Yanar Dagh (fire mountain) and dream in the evening, sipping tea and warmed by the fire of eternal flames... easily the most elemental of the sights to see in Baku!
