Coastguard Station

Reviewed By Walruswhiskers

There's a small charge of £1 for adults or £2.50 for a family but it's worth this charge as it's a lovely space. There's interesting information and interactive displays for children. The staff fed the creatures in the tank and talked us through what the creatures such as crabs, prawns and fish would do. It was fascinating to watch and to hear from the staff who obviously are passionate about what they do.

Muir Lea Stores

We made a point of only using local businesses on our long weekend in the bay. This great little shop sells..... everything!! Breakfasty things, fresh bread, newspapers, booze, chocolates, picnic foods and even beach toys made up our shopping list. Very friendly service, the lady who served us on our first visit recommended the best places to eat and visit. Beats Sainsbury's every time!

Amazingly atmospheric little church and graveyard both abandoned but still beautifully cared for. Great guides for visitors to use, lots of local history, really get the flavour of the area.

Robin Hoods Bay Beach

Reviewed By Micasa312020

A busy beach used by families and dog walkers alike and is surrounded by cliffs with a great view around the cove. A ring of rocks is exposed with the tide recedes which is is taken advantage of by all including shellfish hunters and children searching rock pools all armed with buckets. When the tide returns look out for the ice cream van who leaves his escape from the beach as late as he can resulting in a drive through the oncoming waves and across rocks back to the causeway! If you log on to rhb live cam you are able to see live pictures from 3 positions, indeed if you select the camera showing the causeway and head over there you could wave to you family and friends! The pub on the causeway is the Bay hotel and is recommended.

The Old Coastguard Station

Reviewed By ragiansanti34 - Staffordshire, United Kingdom

The Old Coastguard Station is a free attraction located right next to the boat launch in Robin Hoods Bay. They have many displays to read and learn about local life, tide times, weather, wind, speed, and temperature. There is also an aquarium with live lobsters and crabs. It’s great to be able to see them up close. I really appreciated the display about all the rubbish found on the beach, it was a real eye opener. I hope it is to others as well. They have a gift shop with loads of local chocolates (the marzipan is delicious), candles, National Trust books and other items. The lady working there when we went was so helpful and answered all of my American cousin’s 10,000 questions without being impatient. I love my cousin but she can go on and on and the wonderful staff member was really nice to her. I am sorry for not getting her name. We came by 15 September around 1400 if that helps. If you are in the area it is a great place to learn about the local area. I highly recommend a visit.

Along the Coast at Robin Hood's Bay

We took the Cinder Track from Robin Hood’s Bay to Maw Lycke, it’s a lovely walk. We dropped down after about 3 miles onto the Cleveland Way and braved the cliff top winds back.
