Once a sleepy fishing village, Placencia has emerged as an increasingly popular eco-destination on the Caribbean. For those who enjoy outdoor adventure, the Stann Creek region offers a host of activities: hiking through mountainous rain forests, kayaking, deep sea fishing, diving and exploring Mayan ruins. The peninsula boasts 16 miles of tranquil beaches, with a lagoon to the west and the Caribbean to the east and lots of peace and quiet in the middle. Tour guides and dive centers offer a variety of excursions, with boat rides to the outer cayes an ongoing favorite. Also popular are guided land tours to Mayan Ruins or trekking the jungle trails of Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, where the first Jaguar Reserve in the world was established.

Treasure Box is a MUST while in Placencia! I met Kaj through a friend and received a few items through her via Facebook and Insta before actually visiting her store in Belize. I reached out to her before my husband and I arrived in Placencia and when we arrived at Treasure Box, Kaj's employee Valentina greeted us with a smile (she also has THE BEST LAUGH EVER) Treasure Box has various items to choose from...rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, toe rings and plenty of other items, all of which are very inexpensive, and such great quality. Did I tell you that ALL items are handmade by Kaj? Who wouldn't want to take home a piece made by a Belizean local? I can tell you that I purchased MANY items, not only did I purchase many items, but I also took a trip to her other store in San Ignacio and bought two more pairs of earrings. My favorite item that I have that she made, is my personalized necklace, if you want one of these, you must order in advance so that you can pick up from her store when you arrive. You must also visit her other business "Cool Coconuts" at the end of the pier. They will chop open a fresh coconut right in front of you and you can either have a shot of coconut rum added, or just drink it as is. DELISH! Do NOT leave Placencia without visiting both of these businesses, you will not walk away disappointed! xoxo

What great spot. They have opened their home to share wine, stories, cigars and art. Find a bottle in the cellar, and they will open it for you, and serve you upstairs in te 365 viewing rooftop. Sunsets, are great on the roof!! Simple cheese or meats served, with good company.

Lola's has the coolest art. Beautiful bright colors that really represent a talented eye and hand. Catch a cab or ride up to her place and check it out. We saw there are also special dinners there too, but didn't get the chance to check it out. We love out wooden plaque with a colorful cat on it.

We stop here every visit to pick up a copy of the Placencia Breeze and check out any happenings. Sometimes, if there is an event like Lobsterfest or the Mistletoe Ball you can buy tickets for a fun raffle and a chance to win cool prizes. They have several books about the area for sale as well as some gently used books you can use and swap back for if you need a beach read.

The Placencia Municipal Pier was gifted to the residents of Placencia Village to give villagers a place to enjoy the beauty of the Placencia Harbour as well as to boost economic growth of the village. In the pier area you can find gift shops, tour centers, local artisans, restaurants etc.
We walk up by the pier dozens of times a day. Check out the incoming fishing boats and outgoing adventure seekers. Play a game of chess on the picnic tables as you watch the dolphins. Grab a drink from the Frosty shack that has crazy coconuts and more.

I was so glad to find this unique gallery. I stayed in a condo in Placencia that had the art of Nelson Young, that intrigued me and found many of his paintings at Art and Soul. It’s a small gallery and if you are really interested in purchasing some lovely art visit several times and ask the owners to brings things out to look at them in the light. You will be surprised at the beauty of many of these pieces once you see them with good light. Greta was more then happy to bring things out and discuss the art. It was a pleasure to meet the gallery owners and enjoy the art there as well as bring home a beautiful piece that the owners packaged up for me perfectly.

Our family went on cruise for my brother's wedding. He had event set up in Belize to get married on beach, only we docked in Harvest Caye. The wedding was set up in Belize City, no way 2 make it before ship sailed. Ferry ladies knew Tipsy Tuna owner and Juiliana turned our nightmare N2 dream. Built arc for wedding, went to florist cut up flowers for bouquet. Even knew very good minister who was on break from post office to perform ceremony. Pulled off beautiful wedding in 2 hours and owner Juilianna didn't want extra money for hosting event. We had big feast of very authentic Hispanic food delicious. Tipsy Tuna made our dream come true, thanks again Juiliana
