Located in Madison, Ohio about an hour east of Cleveland, Debonne Vineyards is now the largest estate winery in Ohio, boasting over 175 acres of vines. Debonne Vineyards central location in the Grand River Valley wine region benefits from a climate moderated by the thermal effects of eastern Lake Erie. Our family commitment to excellence begins in the vineyards and is reflected in the quality of our premium Debonne Vineyards varietals and the original Chalet Debonne blends. Debonne Vineyards is also the first Ohio winery to open up a micro-brewery, Cellar Rats Brewery.
Beautiful setting and friendly staff - love the fact that they have a brewery as well, We at outside and enjoyed a late lunch among the flowers and with views of the vineyards. Food was excellent and reasonably priced.

The inspiration of opening a winery originated from the love of fine wines and the charming local wineries of the Grand River Valley. Opening a winery evolved into more than just an idea when two brothers were hunting in Idaho. While sampling some wines from California, it became clear that Northeast Ohio also has the potential to offer great wines. From here the idea came to life when the search began for the perfect place to make Laurentia a home. Things materialized as we acquired land for our vines and eventually this spot to build our winery. Plantings commenced in 2011 and in the following years while we broke ground for our production building and beautiful winery in 2013. It has been a long, exciting process, but we are completely rewarded with the end result and welcome you to share our joy
This is my very favorite winery in the Geneva on the Lake area. The atmosphere is great and their wines are so good! Our favorite is the American Pinot Noir. I feel like this is what. Winery in California is like. Definitely recommend!

Even in this vineyard country, the pace on traffic on SR 528 can seem a bit hectic. Not inner city hectic, mind you, but busy enough to disquiet and agitate. Perfectly located along this busy route is an oasis within the oasis of wine country. Drop down 100 feet below the traffic into this literally Hidden Valley retreat. Stroll along the scenic stream. Reflect upon life's ponderous questions beneath the towering rock cliffs above. Rest your entire being at the perfect point on park benches beneath majestic trees that cast their shadows on the quiet reflecting pool at your feet. And all of this within 100 yards of SR 528, equipped with a nice bathroom, fire pit (including cord wood), pavilion (with picnic tables), sled riding hill, and playground. What a truly hidden gem in an area already blessed with so much natural beauty.

I went to Hogback Ridge Park on a cool sunny Tuesday Morning in early November. My main goal was to get a good hike in. The park is out of the way, but I did run into a fisherman and a dog walker out on the trails. This is a larger park with two entrances. The main entrance to the park is off Emerson road and there is another entrance off Warner Road. Most of the trails are crushed stone but most all have some up and down…the creek is nearly 200 feet below the parking area. There are a few trails such as the Bluebell Valley Trail that have sections that are more rugged and some steps, and I was glad I had on my hiking boots as it had been raining all morning. I started my hike at the Main entrance parking area. There are pit toilets and a nice pavilion. I stitched all the trails together with minimal backtracking and hiked about 2/12 miles in this section. The Old Emerson Road Trail is an old road and goes steeply down to the creek. The Hemlock Ridge Trail is fairly flat and has a series of boardwalks. The Bluebell Valley Trail is a great hike along the creek. I then drove over to the Warner Road entrance. It is barely marked with a 1 x 2 foot Lake MetroParks sign, there is only room for a few cars. There is an old road that goes about ¾ mile and 200 feet down to the river. There are also mountain bike trails. I walked down to the river and then just a little but up from the bottom I walked the mountain bike trail back up. This is an excellent walking trail that follow s the ridge…sometimes breathtakingly close. The trails are in excellent shape for walking and I saw no signs of use by mountain bikes. This may be one of the best hikes around the rivers. Overall, my hike was about two miles at this entrance. The color was great, but a windstorm over the weekend took away most of the fall leaves.
