I’m an event producer by trade, and plan trips accordingly: truly trying to create a full ‘experience’ every day. My first vacation to San Miguel de Allende meant taking it to the next level: looking for private experiences that felt creative, fun, and otherworldly. As a NYC resident, this can sometimes be difficult to accomplish (the joy of having so many different cultures and restaurants at my fingertips). A friend living in SMA told me I would fall in love with San Miguel as soon as I arrived, and he was right. I discovered the luxurious Casa Dragones tasting at their residence whilst doing some research about interesting activities, and we immediately became besotted. This is an experience unlike any other - a totally private, luxe, comfortable, informative tasting of their sublime tequila, background on their world renowned company (co-created by the very first woman tequila master!), and then a tour of the grounds. There’s also a tasting experience available at their tequila room (the world’s smallest!), but I highly highly recommend also making a trip to their residence - it’s worth every penny. My friend and I had the time of our lives, and it was definitely a highlight of an incredible trip. Our Casa Dragones guide Brenda could not have been lovelier, and helped lift the night into even more incredible heights. Tasting the tequila on the rooftop of the private residence, overlooking San Miguel? Divine. Can’t wait to come back San Miguel again soon - and my first stop will be a return trip to La Casa Dragones.
