This East Bali beach town is known for excellent SCUBA diving and snorkeling. New hotels are springing up on this coast, especially in Candidasa, a scenic 40-minute drive to its south. Amed is also a great place to admire Bali’s colorful outrigger boats.

I had a reservation with Booking .com for a lovely bungalow at this hotel. I showed the booking at my arrival and was told that because I had not paid, I had no booking (it was ‘pay at the property’. I specifically chose this hotel because of positive reviews and the fact that it was on the beach with snorkelling on the doorstep; There was no bungalow available. I was offered a much lower spec room and after I got angry put on to the owner who told me not to be angry with the receptionist as she was his wife. She first denied this and after blushing affirmed this. I wanted the room that I booked which was why I booked it. There were no apologies, just rudeness. We agreed that the owner would cancel the original booking and I could look around Amed to see if there was alternative accomodation, in the meantime keeping the lower spec room for the next hour. I found a much better and wonderful room at Vienna Beach after 2 hours driving around. I was surprised to get an email from Booking.com as they had communicated with Bhuana Beach who said I had not shown up at their hotel....you can’t make this stuff up! And... online I learned that it was part of ‘Luxury Hotels in Amed’ please don’t believe this; when I had a look around, the place was quite dilapidated in an unkempt way with staff being uninterestedly playing loud music on their phones by the pool. During the crisis you’d thought that businesses would not jeapordize their reputation...unless of course they really don’t care. Shame on you Bhuana Beach. Be warned! What a terrible experience

We stayed at Amed Harmony while in Amed. It is not in the center of town but its only about a 15 min walk or short scooter ride to all the dive shops. There are some restaurants and ATMs nearby too. The room was very clean and very well priced. My favorite part was the cooking class! We made everything from scratch and the sambals were my favorite part! all so spicy :)

Recently with a group of friends celebrating a 60th birthday we spent a few nights at this idyllic resort. Food fantastic, rooms well appointed (including a bath), outdoor pool very relaxing and snorkeling from beach directly in front clear (turtle spotted amongst fish). Massages could be organized, walking to street shopping and other restaurants easy. Staff & management very helpful & supportive.

Friendly staff, yummy food, new fridge, cheap dining, supercheap coca cola, variety of dishes. We dined in many times, the fish is always fresh because they freeze it. Good for family - the kids can sit on the boats table and overall cheap for the Daddy you can get a cheap and tasty menue for your family. Bungalows are close to street and boats

Om Shanti is a a property with 4 cottages nestled on the slopes of Bunutan in East Bali. Away from the busyness of crowded tourist destinations, Om Shanti provides a haven for those who desire time on their own to relax and enjoy the spiritual side of Bali.
I just spent two weeks in the ganesh room at om shanti and it was the best holiday. The grounds are full of beautiful plants and flowers attracting butterflies and birds. The view from the deck is lovely, sunrise and pink skies at night. The pool is a refeshing welcome for the heat of the day. The snorkeling is amazing across the street and short bike ride to Japanese ship wreck. The staff is so nice and the spa is the icing on the cake! Highly recommend a stay here to retreat and relax.
