Located opposite the Mont-Blanc and Beaufortain ranges, La Plagne is a fantastic skiing destination. For those who don't want to ski the slopes, there are skidoos, bobsleds, snowshoe trails, an ice rink and even paragliding. The ski resorts at the base of the peaks are linked by free transport, enabling travelers to enjoy the area without a car.

A group of five of us stayed at Chalet Edelweiss this last week (wc 12th Jan) in the eight person apartment. As previous reviewers have said, booking an apartment with a bit of space (i.e. four people, book a six bed, five people eight bed etc) means you have a bit more comfort/space. You could fit eight people in there, but it'd be a squeeze with adults especially if there are no couples as it'd require sharing double beds! Our transfer arrived just after 12pm where reception had closed until 5pm...We were surprised the tour operator seemed surprised by this, but the staff said we were welcome to leave our luggage and make the most of the half day lift pass. We collected the passes from the v.convenient office opposite reception, and then our hire skis from the equally convenient Sport 2000 (via a beer at Bobsleigh Pub as the hire shop was closed until 1:30pm) and made our way down the slope 30m to the Melezes chairlift and onwards up Bergerie to the rest of the resort. The apartment was nicely finished, with a few bits of wear and tear noticed. Make sure to fill out the checklist of items and report any issues by Monday. We took bits and pieces with us to help with cooking on the hob, such as a grater, sharp knives, extra chopping board etc as well as some cleaning products (there's a dishwasher so remember tablets). When it came to cleaning up on the Friday before we left we went to Spar (about a 10 minute walk away) and got some extra cleaning products to do the floors and bathrooms etc. We loaded up on food at Spar in the village and cooked in two big batches which sorted us out for the whole week, with a couple of nights out at the very excellent Cantine restaurant and pizza at the Bobsleigh pub (which does takeaway too!). The Spar was about what you'd expect price wise, but c'est la vie! Bedrooms were comfy...we drew straws to decide who got the double (I lost) but the twin was absolutely ideal for two grown men and the bathroom was nicely done out - although the shower's sliding door was a little snug for a big bloke like me! The location is literally incredible...Sure it might not have the most restaurants/bars in the village, but it takes about 2 minutes walk to get to the lift pass collection point, the nearest hire shop, the nearest pub and the first lift of the day. La Plagne 1800 is small but perfectly formed in that respect. La Plagne Centre has more shops and bars/restaurants, but does require a ski back down the hill to the bottom of Melezes via either a simple enough Red or a windy (and a tad icy) blue that brings you out a little further away - so bear that in mind when making evening plans. Other bonuses of the location include the free resort shuttle bus which stops directly outside Chalet Edelweiss...Again, I can't fault the location at all! The staff in reception were helpful, informative and very polite. We ordered fresh bread and pastries every evening before 7pm for collection the next day at 8am and they were delicious and a godsend to five sleepy guys! It was a good mix of families and groups of friends, with no massive parties that I could hear (most of that was confined to the excellent La Mine pub just down the hill!) and there seemed to be plenty of bookings. If I came back to La Plagne I would definitely book at Edelweiis again. It was my first experience of self catered after four catered holidays and it worked perfectly well.

smokers area at the entrance is horrible. Even on the balcony the smell of the smoke was strong. Opening the window doors to the balcony as a result not possible, further good clean appartment. and close to the pistes

In the heart of "Paradiski" ski area Board payable when booking A renovated residence on the edge of the forest.
We deliberately booked an appartment for seven people, even though we were only four. We know the indicated number of people the appartments can hold is a hypothetical figure. The ski locker of the appratment could barely hold four pairs of skis and poles. The corridor on the fourth floor smelled badly. Plates in the kitchen cupboard contained remains of a pasta dish from previous occupants; also other china hadn't been cleaned.

Located right next to the slopes, this chalet residence can welcome from 2 to 21 people in its comfortable and friendly apartments. After a hard day skiing in the Paradiski area, you can either relax by the fire, or enjoy the health spa area with a swimming pool, a fitness room, saunas, spas and massage rooms.
I’ll start with the good. Brilliant location. Proper ski in ski out. Well located within La Plagne resort and only a five minute walk to restaurants etc. Room was warm, quiet, the beds were comfy and there was always loads of hot water. We had little interaction with staff but those we met were friendly and helpful. The average. The building and apartment were tired and room cramped even by alpine standards. The lighting in the kitchen was particularly awful. The bad. The boot room was the worst I’ve come across in ten years of skiing. There was no drainage and a permanent pool of water on the floor. Our locker was cut in half by some pipes and we could barely get our skis in it. No boot heaters or even a hook to hang a helmet on. Compare my photo with the one from the official website…. Towels. Three thin small towels for three adults. This is a personal bugbear of mine. I’ll never understand why hotels skrimp on towels when it does nothing but annoy people, but this was a particular low in my experience of hotel towels. I think my feelings are summed up by the photo I took from our balcony. Wonderful mountain view, slightly marred by the exposed insulation. If you pick Les Balcons for your holiday you’ll probably have a wonderful time but you’ll be aware you could have got somewhere nicer close by for the same money.

We booked this as a family chalet over half term week. The apartment itself was exactly what we wanted. Two twin rooms at the top floor with a bathroom for the kids. Middle floor for kitchen lounge and diner and lower floor for Adults with a ensuite bathrooms and separate shared WC. The apartment itself was clean and spacious but a little on the tired side but nothing to complain about. Ski locker for the end of the day and step outside the front door and you are on the piste. Its location is superb. The drag lift at the side takes you up to behind the property to get you back to the front door so NO lugging skis. Spar for food and the shops are all very close. Change of towels mid week is a nice touch along with a little washing up and dishwasher pack. HOWEVER: Make sure you bring coffee and filter papers, dishwasher tablets, kitchen towels etc as these are very expensive. Also bring a couple of black bin bags. You get one on arrival then have to buy another 50 from the Spar! I asked for one but got a Non :-( But this is THE MOST IMPORTANT thing you need to know. The private parking roof is VERY low and at two points my standard roof box scrapped along the roof. Either don't have one or bring a tyre inflater, let your tyres down passed the roof and pump up again on departure. Luckily mine is old and tatty so I wasn't to upset. Oh and if you are driving get a motorway pass in advance its brilliant to sail passed all the queues. Hope you found this useful, happy to answer questions.

With the family or friends, your mountain holidays in a traditional Savoyard village, Belle Plagne. Take advantage of accommodation at the foot of the slopes, the Paradiski ski area and a convivial après ski atmosphere. For your winter holidays, why not choose a self-catering mountain apartment and be seduced by the stunning views.
Having read a lot of the terrible reviews, I was quite nervous before arriving at the residence. We arrived late in the evening and the reception was closed, but to my relief they had sent me an email with a code to access the safe and collect our room key. Everything was clean and tidy in the room, and although it was small, we had most things that we needed (no oven, toaster, or kettle though, just a 2-ring stove and a microwave). There were only 2 of us staying there, so if there were all 4 beds occupied it would be extremely tight. Location was absolutely perfect, with direct access to the slopes, shops, restaurants, and supermarket within 100 metres. We also enjoyed the balcony view across the village to the slopes, including a nice sunset sky. We had to clean all the apartment before leaving, including scrubbing floors and vacuuming which was a bit annoying but worth it to save the expensive cleaning fee. Overall I would say it’s a decent choice if you are on a tight budget and want to save money, but if you can spend a bit more then there are far nicer options.
