I have been seeing shows at No Square Theatre for years and have always been blown away! This theatre certainly embodies it's community and serves them well. Intimate theater space always packed with amazing talent! No Square always has a great season planned with shows happening almost monthly (if not every other month). With some well known shows as well as Original shows centering around the community. Every year their production of Lagunatics is a wild musical romp through the happenings in the city of Laguna Beach over the past year. So original and always ENTERTAINING! The annual Sawdust Art Festival features over 200 Laguna Beach artists, 20 new this year, who exhibit and sell their original art and handcrafted items in an enchanting outdoor eucalyptus setting in Laguna Canyon. Visitors can experience the awe in artwork being created right before their eyes, including the large glass-blowing enclosure where glass masters perform their skill at the furnace. The diverse range of artwork at the Sawdust encompasses all types of mediums, including ceramics, glass, woodwork, jewelry, sculpture, painting, photography, textiles, mixed media and much more. Guests can come and enjoy live entertainment on three stages and roaming acts around the grounds, eye-catching artist demonstrations, hands-on art workshops for all ages, and delicious food and drink, including great beverages offered at the Sawdust Saloon. The Sawdust's year-round art classes, Sawdust Studio Art Classes, will continue to be offered every Friday and Saturday at 10am and 2pm. Guests can experience the magic of the Sawdust studio and create their own unique art piece, to wear or to share, in just one two-hour session. Don't miss the diversity in character, creativity and action at the Sawdust!
This is an old-growth Laguna Beach annual fixture. The sawdust is strewn over the ground, not required art material. With its own shady food court and beer on tap, you don't necessarily have to spend money on art, although that is the premise of the location and of the festival. A locally-run shuttle bus serves the venue from a gravel lot just East along the paved main road. We attended the winter affair, which as I understand it is a variation on the basic autumn festival. Local glee clubs sing Christmas songs quietly on the veranda -- quietly enough that you'll barely hear them unless you're there on the veranda. I felt like covering as a David Bowie-esque mechanical drummer boy mime to help liven things up but decided to let them stick to the script. The place is steeped in Laguna Beach history and nestled in the shady and forested north-facing hillside of the canyon.
Our social painting events provide an engaging way to discover your inner artist. Uniquely creative painting experiences designed to accommodate distinct styles of groups and social gatherings. Painting in the style of contemporary impressionists, our instructors make it simple so everyone can enjoy the artistic endeavor. No experience necessary. We provide all the tools for artistry. Painting "en plein aire" (in the open air) is a great way to enjoy California's long tradition of painting on location. Bring a picnic, grab your brush and spend the day on the beach, recreating a local seascape.
ARTime Barro, second location of ARTime Studio, offers a quaint space for local and international artists and students to get messy and creative.
