Wisconsin Canoe is the fastest growing canoe and kayak rental company in the midwest. Based on the Wisconsin River in Spring Green, along with House on the Rock, Taliesin, and the American Players Theater. We offer the best people and the best equipment to get you to your favorite sandbar on the Lower Wisconsin River covering Prairie Du Sac, Sauk City, Mazomanie, and Arena. What started out as a new business with 10 old canoes and a trailer run by a couple of college kids has evolved to include a husband and wife team (yeah, two of those college kids) now operating the newest fleet of over 100 canoes and kayaks on the Wisconsin River. From Sauk City to Spring Green, we've been putting over 5,000 paddlers on the water every season.

Arcadia Books has just the right selection and variety for an independent small town bookstore! Excellent fiction, current nonfiction, travel, regional authors, drama, and children's sections. And, in fact, their online ordering is seamless if there is something you need but they don't have it in stock. I also enjoy some of the whimsical literary gifts they sell, as well as the delish coffees, teas, and treats. Thanks, too, to Arcadia for taking care to keep their customers and employees safe during the pandemic! Arcadia follows all Covid-19 guidelines, and they even have picnic tables outside for enjoying coffee and conversation on those sunny fall days.

Nestled in the rolling hills just north of downtown Spring Green is where Wilson Creek flows. Ashley Pfannenstiel is creating and selling her hand thrown functional stoneware in her studio and attached retail shop. Come enjoy the beauty of the valley, see the potter in action creating unique and functional pieces, and shop for your kitchen and home or gifts for your friends. Dishwasher safe and perfect for dining, baking and decorating. Open daily 10am - 6pm.

We were pleasantly surprised by this hike. It is a great winding trail through sand prairie and then up hill to a wonderful lookout over the valley. Fall was a great time to go to see the drying of the grasses and the beautiful leaves in the woods on the way up the hill. Given the number of fallen leaves covering the trail, it would be a challenge going uphill and down if the ground was wet. We were lucky to have a nice dry day. You won't run into many other people out here. This would be a good activity for couples or with older children. Young children may have a hard time with the ascent.

Beautiful building with great views of the Wisconsin River. The gift shop has a lot of neat items. The staff was very friendly and accommodated me when I was stuck in a thunderstorm and late for my tour.

Loved floating down the river, the water was the perfect temperature! Bring a cooler full of iced drinks and snacks to enjoy along the way. We got back in time for live music outside and some awesome pizza. Can't wait to go again!

This was our first stop on a cross country road trip/move. We loved that we were able to book the campsite in advance. The campground was really lovely. The sites are pretty private and there's plenty of nature surrounding. It's a great no frills campground and I would recommend it to anyone looking for great tent camping just outside Madison.
