It's either you stop right at the top, with a bird's eye view of the waterfall, Geo coordinates as : 60.425468, 7.246463 OR like us, we choose a short hike ( 1.3km x2 ) to the base of the waterfall. You can park at 60.425203, 7.231709. Both sides of the road are widen to allow cars to park to hike to Vøringsfossen. The initial 200m is path road, after which , there are many boulders and bid rocks to overcome. But not a problem at all as just do it at your own pace and enjoy the hike. It's beautiful with a lovely weather to top it all. You can do it in 2 hours. We took about 3 hours as we had our picnic and rest at the waterfall too!

Kjeasen Mountain Farm

Kjeåsen mountain farm is described as the world's most isolated settlement, it is like an eagle's nest 530m above the Simadalsfjord. The road to the farm starts in Simadal, about 10 km from Eidfjord/Rv7. Due to narrow road, hourly driving has been introduced. Traffic up to Kjeåsen every full hour, traffic down from Kjeåsen on the half hour. One can drive up just to enjoy the view, or you can do the amazing hike from the fjord to the top. The hike starts in Simadal by Statkraft (parking by Sima Power Plant). From this point take a left towards the fjord to Kjeaneset. The trail forks off to the right and winds steeply up the mountainside. Ropes, logs and ladders are necessary aids along the way. Stunning views in several places along the trail. Approx 1,5 - 2 hrs hard uphill hiking each way.

Norsk Natursenter - Hardanger

... an extraordinary experience! In beautiful and dramatic Western Norway, at the foot of the Voeringsfoss waterfall and by the ascent of the Maaboedalen valley, lies the Norwegian Nature Centre in Øvre Eidfjord with its breathtaking but unobtrusive architecture. The purpose of the centre is to gather and distribute knowledge about Norwegian nature, climate and environment. We made it our task to bring about an intimate meeting of modern man and nature. The Norwegian Nature Centre is an experience centre for the whole family, featuring lively exhibitions, hands-on activities and visual effects. Today, the centre is one of the leading centres of its kind, featuring state-of-the-art technological effects and innovative teaching technologies. Our supervideograph is a modern 225-degrees panoramic cinema, built in cooperation with Ivo Caprino who also made the film "Fjords, Mountains and Waterfalls" which is shown here. Our exhibitions are available in 13 different languages.

As part of a group tour of Eidfjord, we spent a couple of hours here. Excellent setup, with good geological history, climate, animals, nature. Walk-through was nicely arranged. Excellent for families. The shop/restaurant across the street has great buys on Norwegian outer wear.

we really enjoyed the hour long walk. We walked up the side of the river and through the woods. There is a clean toilet available on the path. We saw lots of wildlife and birds nesting. Yes, the graves are just mounds of stones, but they are ancient Viking graves so we didn't expect anything more! The view point is spectacular.

Eidfjord Church

Worth the walk up from the port to see this old church and the cemetery. They only allow you to look inside as the floor is not safe, but to me it is worth seeing the historical site. And it is also on the "blue" path. There are posts with blue on them that allow you to make about a mile walk around the upper city in the countryside.
