Outstanding river tour of the local Conway, SC (near Myrtle Beach) Waccamaw River area. Comfortable electric boat (no background noise), good tour guide, several tours/day and very reasonably priced for a 2 hour tour. A great activity for a visit to the Myrtle Beach SC area.

This place was recreated to show what life was like in the area in the early 1/2 of the 1900's. Visitors can participate in harvesting, milking a cow, grinding corn, etc. according to what time of year it is. There are many different buildings that would be present on a working farm along with farm animals including turkeys, chickens, pigs, cow, horse, etc. There is a saw mill, blacksmith, smoke house, out house, tobacco barn, hand dug canoes, tools from the era, barn, chicken coop, barn, chapel, etc. The visitor center has produce produced from the farm as well as hand made toys, etc. The house has a woman who cooks with a wood stove and explains life from that time period. The people who work there also wear period costumes. Greatly enjoyed our visit. There is plenty of free parking.

Excellent talent shared by mostly locals adds to the enjoy-ability of this venue. Never been disappointed. The theater is old, which adds to the ambiance but the seating is not staggered, so be sure you know your seating choice before you purchase tickets....and they sell FAST!

While on a recent trip to South Carolina, we had a rainy day and were looking for something to do. We found the Horry County Museum website and decided to make that a "quick" stop on our way to do some shopping. All I can say is WOW, we spent almost three hours exploring the vast exhibits inside the museum. The history of the county and state of South Carolina are truly well displayed in this gem of a museum. The admission is free with a donation box at the entrance of the museum. I'm not sure children wold enjoy the main museum as much, but there is a living history farm connected with the museum that we did not visit. That area may be more enjoyable for children.

This is a great area to take a short walk. Enjoy the river and see some local wildlife. Relax on a bench or rocking chair. Pretty and well maintained.
