This family winery is set in a beautiful location. Silvia gave us such a warm and friendly welcome. We tried 4 of their red wines and the pours were very generous. Silvia also provided cheese, salami, bread sticks and an assortment of cookies that went perfectly with the Barolo! The Barolo was our favorite and they have older vintages available for purchase so you can enjoy them now! We also got a beautiful wooden case to add to our collection! Silvia makes hazelnut meringue style cookies that were really delicious and they’re available for purchase as well as her homemade jam. We met Francesco as he was passing through the room and he stopped to welcome us and shake our hand. A wonderful winery and really great staff!

Castello Falletti di Barolo

Reviewed By 840gabrielh - Bellaire, United States

CAstello Falletti stands at the place of fortifications going back to at least the 10th century. In fact, parts of the original foundation can still be discerned in the great tower, which is visible for many miles around town. Most of the current structure, however, is the result of multiple additions and restorations, thanks to the efforts and vision of members of the Falletti family that acquired the castle in the 13th century. Medieval wars resulted in major damage to the castle, but each time, it was restored and improved. Today, it stands in great condition, one of the best preserved castled in the Langhe region. The Falletti family left the property in the early 19th century, to move to Turin, and upon the death of the last member of the family, the castle became the seat of the Opera Pia Barolo, a not-for-profit organization charged with administering the Falletti properties. In the late 1870s a college (Barolo COllege) was establishe on the site and continued its activities until 1958. Eventually Barolo township took over the ownership and management of the property and in 2010 the WiMu, one of the best wine museums of the country, was established. This is a multimedia program that occupies five floors of the castle and is well worth a visit.
