Visited the Cavendish Arms with my wife & Daughter for Dinner last night. Used the website to reserve a table - so easy and so convenient. Arrived on time seated promptly and politely by Olivier then we were offered menus and drinks order taken by Agness. Drinks were served swiftly. Food orderers were then taken allowing us plenty of time but not too long to chose from the great selection on offer. All courses arrived in pleasant time with no complaints at all. Clean plates all round for each course. Whole experience 10/10 and would highly recommend.

Stayed with wife in twin room for four nights. Very clean and comfortable room on first floor. Excellent breakfast with good choice. Staff attentive and very friendly. The hotel has well stocked bar which is open to non residents and appears to be a meeting place for local residents. Would thoroughly recommend the hotel for anyone wanting a reasonably priced stay in Cartmel.

18th Century Coaching Inn with accommodation in Double, Twin, or King Size bedrooms. All rooms recently refurbished to a high standard with en-suite shower rooms. Food served daily 12 noon - 10 pm, an infusion of British and Italian cuisines.
Visited a few times over our stay in Cartmel, on the square in Cartmel. Friendly staff, local beers, nice conservatory and beer garden to the rear overlooking the river. Had music on early Sunday evening. Didn’t eat here but saw nice food being served.

Just had a long weekend staying with friends and we can’t say enough how we were made to feel so welcome. All the work that has been done on the B&B has certainly paid off, the rooms were lovely with everything we needed. Lovely breakfasts. So nice to stay on the square but at the same time it was lovely and quiet. All credit to Rachel and the team, we would definitely recommend and be back.

17th-Century country cottage, set in an acre of garden, in the heart of the English Lake District. Close to Windermere and ideal for the historic village of Cartmel with its famous Sticky Toffee Pudding and Race Course. Home baking, log fires and aga cooked breakfast. Each room has TV, DVD, robes, toiletries and internet access. Dogs and children are welcome. There is a good choice of pubs and restaurants close by - The Crown at High Newton is within walking distance and the award winning Mason's Arms is close by on Cartmel Fell offering good food and local ales. Cartmel village has L'Enclume - a Michelin Star restaurant, standing 2nd in the Good Food Guide's Top Ten, and Rogan's - a river-side bistro in the heart of the village.
We did overall really enjoy our stay here. I will begin with the positives: the location is ideal, close proximity to Cartmel for lovely restaurants, not far from exploring places in the Lakes such as Windermere, national trusts, Ulverston etc. There are lots of walks too. If you're after a nice short walk nearby (albeit a windy one!), try the reservoir at the top which is lovely. The accommodation is cosy and very pleasant. We were in the garden suite which had plenty of space for us, our children and the dogs. The hostess Tina was very nice and mostly welcoming. Her breakfasts were amazing! I really cannot fault it and particularly enjoyed the homemade bread, grilled grapefruit, her pancakes and the coffee. There was great variety. Our children loved the food too. The bedroom was very comfortable and the coffee machine is a nice touch (perhaps more pods would be nice). Our only slight negatives would be: we were in dog friendly accommodation and places we have stayed before have specified either in note form or verbally that dogs cannot be left in the room alone thus we weren't aware of this and left them alone for a few hours one day. I do wish we would have known so we could have made different arrangements. I feel as though milk and water could have been topped up more. One of our bins weren't emptied on our stay and our wine glasses weren't cleaned. I know these aren't big issues but it would have helped. The downstairs bedroom was rather cold, we did not have logs for the fire, the under floor heating wasn't on and we weren't given any instructions. Luckily it was quite mild outside during our stay. The shower isn't very powerful at all and if you are very tall you may struggle. These were only slight niggles and like I said earlier it really is a nice guesthouse and we can see why people overall enjoy it and we did have a lovely stay.
