Dominated by its colossal 13th-century cathedral and situated nearby the Battle of the Somme memorials, Amiens pairs historic monuments with the youthful energy of a university town. Les Hortillonnages d'Amiens (floating market gardens), Jules Verne House, and the bars and restaurants of Quartier St-Leu add to its appeal.

Why >? A gem is something prized because of its beauty or worth: it's a treasure. This is what we hope that you will find during your stay in our guesthouse, a little marvel which may offer you peace, rest and the comfort that you deserve. We are situated ten minutes away from the city centre and from the train station "Amiens Ville".
We stayed for one night at The Gem as a stop off on the way back to Calais. The host was very helpful pre arrival and we arranged parking for 15 euro in a private, secure garage about a 5 minute walk away. We had cycles and a roof box so parking on the street was not suitable. The Gem is a lovely little hotel in a wales courtyard. We had a family room/suite with 2 bedrooms and shared bathroom and WC. There is a hands room and courtyard to sit in and breakfast was served in a beautiful conservatory with art deco style glass ceiling. Continental breakfast was lovely and lots of food. The hotel is very close to the city centre and all major attractions very easy to wan in and out. Would definitely recommend and wish we had time to stay longer here and in Amiens which was also a hidden gem.

My husband chose this B&B as a stopover between Britanny and Germany and I couldn’t have been more pleased. After a long day driving it was nice to have a bit of luxury. Our room was beautifully decorated, with a nice mix of classic and modern. Beds were wonderful & we all slept well. The owner suggested a restaurant in town but also offered to order a pizza for us. We really appreciated this service. Breakfast was simple but everything was delicious. I ate a second croissant because they were just so good.

The guest house "At the garden on the water" is a unique place in Amiens. Five minutes from the train station of Saint-Leu district and the cathedral, it is located in the middle of a vegetable plot of 15,000 sqm. This island has for decades been exploited by gardeners. Today, 10 000 m² are still grown. In nature, the scenery is total. In season, you can taste hazelnuts, walnuts, apples...
We had the pleasure of staying here on route to the Loire Valley - what a find. Beautiful setting and gardens on the river. We were greeted with drinks in the garden which after a long drive was most welcomed. Our room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. Breakfast was delightful and fresh. Bikes were available (free) to use and the area is flat - just right for cycling. We walked the canal into town for drinks and dinner before jumping a taxi back. Perfect location and we would definitely recommend it.

We had a stay booked for 3 nights but due to COVID and living in Victoria Australia, where we have been in lockdown and unable to travel. My travel agent has tried several times to contact Une Maison en Ville but they are being very difficult to deal with. It is a tough time for all in business but I would have thought people could have some consideration when travel is taken out of our control and the Australian government will not allow us to travel( also no flights). Just Disappointing all round by not being able to travel and business not being responsible on refunds.
