Every neighborhood in San Francisco has its own personality, from the hippie chic of the Upper Haight to the hipster grit of the Mission. The Marina district boasts trendy bistros and postcard-perfect views of the Golden Gate Bridge, while Noe Valley offers quaint and quiet boutiques. Wave hello to the sea lions at Pier 39, and sample local cheese and charcuterie at the Ferry Building. Sit in on a yoga session in Dolores Park or marvel at the Dutch Windmill across from Ocean Beach.

Hiking lands end to cliff house, with stop fir Sutro Baths is great way to appreciate wilds if SF. You can go as far as you want, have a nice meal or enjoy picnic-or snacks You can stay on cliffs or take sandy stairs down. Take left at crossroads— no sign. Ask people. Great view if city & inspiring maze. Even tho gorgeous fall day— not windy or cold, not too many folks on a Friday

Located in the Sea Cliff neighborhood of San Francisco outside the Golden Gate, this cove is tucked between Baker Beach & Land's End. Offering spectacular views of Marin Headlands and The Golden Gate this cove of sand is good place for sunbathing, play spot for children and a picnic. Observe the monument to the Chinese fishermen and early residents who camped and anchored in the cove.
Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful!!!! A definite must see. I have been visiting this beach for 30+ years and it is as beautiful and pristine now as it was 30+ years ago. I would suggest bringing a picnic lunch and plan on spending an amazing, romantic, and relaxing time at this amazing location. The beach is absolutely gorgeous and the view of the Golden Gate Bridge is incredible It is also much less crowded than some of the other more popular viewing locations - the Sausalito side of the bridge, Baker Beach, or Fort Point. The beach is a short walk from the parking. There are two options: the stairs provide a more direct, shorter, and steeper access, while the paved road is longer and less steep. The photos from this location are absolutely gorgeous. I suggest bringing a tripod and your digital SLR camera. A selfie stick and your cell phone get decent photos of the location, but the tripod and Digital SLR camera will give you the opportunity to create some amazing portraits.

Scenic section of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area is a favorite for hikers, bikers and beach-goers.
Great experience for me having adventure to the cool beach and cliff where people bring their dogs there without laces. It’s like an heaven to be in there enjoying natural view and playing with dogs

Mile-long Baker Beach lies at the foot of rugged serpentine cliffs west of the Golden Gate. Large waves, undertow and rip currents make the beach unsafe for swimming, but it provides panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands and Lands End. You can fish or check out the shorelife along the beach and rocky shoreline. Restrooms and picnic tables are nearby.
This is a great beach to be at in the late afternoon to see the sun setting onto the Golden Gate bridge. We just happened to find this beach by driving along the coast from the windmills in Golden Gate Park. The parking lot here is not large and it appeared to be mostly local people.

Exploring Lands End Costal Trail, we can across a stairway plunging down toward the water that transported us to a beautiful and isolated beach replete with stacked rock art. From the beach, you feel like you are in a remote area blanketed by the sound of breaking surf, the only civilization in view is across the Golden Gate. On a clear day, you can see all the way to Point Reyes. From some points, you can glimpse the GG Bridge. It feels magical to find this natural solitude in San Francisco. A very special place. Recommended you go on sunny clear days to get the full majesty of the panorama. There are about 260 stairs, but they are well maintained and if you are in moderate shape, should be east to navigate. There are 3 locations where stairs have failed and you need to take a double step, but overall I would rate the path as doable for most adults and older children.

At the edge of the Pacific, beachcomb, build sand castles or bonfires, but don't swim. The tumultuous waters can be too rough to handle.
So i live right across from ocean beach and have since 99'. Have see the city change drastically over the years but the beach remains the same. I will say this though, the transiants who sleep in their cars and r.v.'s have taken a safe amazing beach and turned it into thunder dome. Nothing worse than coming out in the morning to enjoy the sunrise and see a parking lot covered in trash or see someone crapping in the bushes. REALLY?! Now for the ocean. If you arent from here and familiar with heavy surf, strong currents, cold water i highly recommend not underestimating this beach. One summer i saw close to 30 ambulance calls on this beach for drunk people almost drowning, kids getting pulled almost 1/2 a mile out. IT IS NO JOKE! BUT if do know how to handle big surf i recommend kelly's cove later in the day, Noriega st. Has big A frames. Get there early for glassy conditions. Ideal conditions are northern swell, off shore breeze, low tide. Bright green barrels you could drive a car through. So i hope this helps and be kind pick up after yourselves and see you out there.✌????
