7 Ancient Ruins in Dublin That You Shouldn't Miss

September 18, 2021 Cedrick Jardin

You've probably heard that Guinness tastes better in Dublin (fresh from the factory), but what you may not know is that Dublin is a perfect destination for the whole family. No, we're not suggesting you let the kiddies drink a pint. Instead, take them to the Dublin Zoo, to feed the ducks in Stephen's Green or on a picnic in Phoenix Park. Scholars enjoy walking in the literary footsteps of such writers as Yeats and Joyce, while discerning shoppers have their pick of designer boutiques.

Words of advice, stay on the path if you are not in great shape. My family suggested a shortcut which the locals refer to as “the Illuminator”. I now understand because of the level of difficulty and the view from the other. Well, I made it and felt so good. The view is stunning. More than worth the hike. The story of the sight is fascinating and if you love haunted tales you will love this. A little out of the way but so worth it!!!

Nelsons Head

In Ireland, Admiral Horatio Nelson was a figure standing on top of a 134' Doric column in the middle of O'Connell Street. He appeared to symbolise English rule over the waves (an over Ireland). In 1966, on the anniversary of the Easter Rising of 1966, persons unknown, put some plastic explosives under Nelson. Both he and his piller jumped up in the air and came down in smithereens.
