6 Walking Tours in Okanagan Valley That You Shouldn't Miss

May 22, 2022 Tambra Mccollister

The Okanagan Valley, in the interior of British Columbia, is a popular Canadian vacation destination known for skiing in the winter and watersports in the summer. The area's quaint towns and lush vineyards are connected by a network of clear blue lakes and rivers and surrounded by rolling, sun-dappled hills. Head to Kelowna for one of several wine festivals or to Penticton for the sugary summer Peach Festival. To the south is Osoyoos, home to an arid desert filled with rare plants and animals.

My sister and I took this tour yesterday with Chris as our Guide and Chef and we had an amazing time. We enjoyed some wonderful wines from some smaller wineries we had not visited before. The food prepared by Chris was mouthwatering and beautifully presented and as an added bonus Chris was so entertaining and informative. We would certainly recommend this tour and will definitely try one of their other tours when we return to Kelowna next year.

My wife and I spent a lovely week biking around the Naramata wine district. As part of our stay we eBiked the 80 km. from Myra Canyon to Penticton on the old KVR rail bed. Mike from HooDoo took us from Penticton to Myra Canyon. Along the way he was a terrific font of knowledge about the building and operation of the Railway. Made our trip much more enjoyable. Great service. The Myra Canyon section of the journey is probably the best, with 18 trestles to enjoy and amazing scenery. Road down to Chute Lake a bit sketchy but easily passable. Lunch at Chute Lake was wonderful, especially as we were a bit wet from the rain and needed to dry out. No reservations needed for lunch. Views on the ride in to Penticton are amazing. Highly recommend this bike ride.

Booked the Naramata wine tour for my wife’s birthday. Frank picked us an on time and off we went. Had the entire tour to ourselves which wasn’t a surprise given Covid and all and it’s is off season. We had 4 tastings lined up and since we were running a bit ahead of schedule Frank squeezed in another tasting free of charge. We ended up buying a couple of cases of wine to help support the local wineries and had a great time in the process. Will definitely call Sagebrush best time we are looking for a tour which is often as we have lost of friends who come to visit us here in the Okanagan. Awesome job Frank! Thanks again for a great day.
