6 Transportation in Caballito That You Shouldn't Miss

March 3, 2022 Fernanda Pittenger

The birthplace of the tango is, like the dance itself, captivating, seductive and bustling with excited energy. Atmospheric old neighborhoods are rife with romantic restaurants and thumping nightlife, and Buenos Aires' European heritage is evident in its architecture, boulevards and parks. Cafe Tortoni, the city's oldest bar, will transport you back to 1858, and the spectacular Teatro Colon impresses just as it did in 1908. Latin America's shopping capital offers the promise of premium retail therapy along its grand, wide boulevards.

We used this company and the same driver (Oscar) for 4 different transfers and he was absolutely perfect! He was thoughtful, on time, and very engaging. The office was very thorough in managing our multiple needs before we even started our cruise in Chile. Highly recommend.

I wanted to do something that is a bit off the beaten path, and this was it. On a Saturday afternoon I arrived at the corner of Emilio Mitre and Jose Bonifacio just a little after 4, and there was already a line of people waiting for a free ride on the historic trams. I ended up in the second group. The explanations were completely in Spanish, but I did read about the trams beforehand in English, so I at least had some basic background. The volunteers explained the history of the Friends of the Transvia and the work they are doing, and then the ride began. In the middle they stopped and passengers had the option to purchase something to support the organization (I purchased a keychain for 80 pesos), and then you were sent right back to the tram stop. It was a fun way to spend part of the afternoon with locals.
