There are undoubtedly few rivers in the UK that come anywhere near to the beauty of the River Wye. The fifth longest river in the UK rises in the remote uplands of Mid Wales and flows through often mind-blowing scenery to the Severn Estuary. Let me pick you up and transport you to this tranquil and iconic valley. This relatively easy 3.5 mile walk passes through ancient woodland and along the banks of the majestic and serene river. You will enter the almost 900 year old Tintern Abbey, one of the most impressive ancient monuments in Wales, attracting visitors from all over the world. The walk passes through the picturesque village of Tintern where you will have the opportunity to rest on the banks of the river and watch its beauty pass by, whilst enjoying some tasty Welsh snacks.

We spotted a few signs for the distillery whilst we were in the area so thought we would check it out. We had a great time talking to Patrick and bought a couple of bottles of gin whilst we were there. Would definitely go back and have already recommended it to friends and family.

We were in the UK for two weeks and scheduled hotels and locations based on our scheduled balloon flight. The first scheduled flight was canceled due to weather, we tried to reschedule on our phones and the booking would not complete. Rescheduled the next available flight, which was two days later - it was also canceled due to weather. We tried to book again and there were no available flights until five days later which was after we returned to the states. Keep in mind even when you book online, you have to wait until they are open to receive confirmation that your booking was actually completed. I would never book again unless you could book the day of a confirmed flight or you are local so you have months to try and redeem your flight.
This walk has been designed by the owner of Wales Outdoors to take in the best of the Wye Valley in the Symmonds Yat area. From the start at the wonderful village store we regularly take in wonderful places of interest such as the viewpoint from Symmonds Yat Rock that looks down upon the almost unbelievable Huntsham Oxbow. The woodland is mostly ours as we are, mostly, off the beaten track throughout. This is a skilfully designed day with plenty of interest for the young and the young at heart alike :)
Inclusions: Guiding for the day
Exclusions: Lunch, Coffee and/or Tea
As always a great trip. Despite the unexpected weather conditions Andy adapted the route to ensure a safe ascent and we were treated to magnificent views and clean crisp white snow. Andy as usual kept the conversation and banter going the whole time, and is a mine of knowledge about the area. An enjoyable and memorable first time up Snowdon and I am already planning my next trip
