Strung below craggy mountains, the Omani capital of Muscat is one of the Middle East’s oldest and most picturesque cities. Between its corniches and modern quarter are Portuguese-built forts, blue-domed mosques, royal palaces, and souks, all heavy with the sense of a lost Arabia.

I first stayed here for a month back in 2010 when I started a new contract. This is one of the original 'luxury' hotels built back in the 70s and that stay confirmed it was in need of a refurbishment. Happy to say the rooms have been completely refurbished to a modern standard, although not quite as flash as the ones in the newer W Hotel next door. Depending on the time of day this is a 20-30minute taxi ride from Muscat airport - at breakneck speed as is the norm in Oman. Once inside the hotel an air of calm and relaxation takes over, maybe a little too much for some of the staff.... Being a Diamond Elite member this is normally acknowledged at check-in where I can pick from the range of benefits. It wasn't so I pointed this out and was given an upgrade to what I consider to be the best room - 62x, it is the corner room on the top floor overlooking the swimming pool and gardens. It is also very close to the service lift which takes you directly to the LG floor and straight out into the hotel grounds. When not visiting friends I spent most of my time around the pool which now has online ordering for drink and food, it is excellent service via Omani employees - this definitely wasn't the case a decade ago when I was served by TCNs. Times have changed in Oman. I had the breakfast everyday, there is a wide international choice of cuisine and great staff. I always make friends on Day 1 to ensure good service for the rest of my stay, in this case with the maître de who made sure I had the same table. Another lovely two weeks in Muscat visiting friends and places I first met a decade earlier. The understated charm of Oman is still there, it is so NOT Dubai!

Im speechless by how each and single person is treating me in al Hisn km feeling like a king here . im still here but i would like to share my review because you huys deserve it . And it all started with miss mounia she was very helpful, extremely friendly and professional, giving me directly the great feeling of being home, bu showing the hotel features and explaining each and single thing in details. This is the reason i directly decided to upgrade the room at whatever charge for an additional weekend (had to change my flight). Next was the Super Chef, Grigorio who advised me a dinner in such details it was Sublime, Fantastic extremely tasteful, i loved it…. Super Restaurant. Thank you a lot dear Shangri-La team and for sure i will VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hotel to all my friends and family members and Yes I will come back Very Soon. Bye

As the world adjusts to new travel norms and expectations, we're enhancing the experience for you - our hotel guests - by redefining cleanliness and supporting wellbeing throughout your stay. Check into an elegant seaside hotel in Oman's thriving capital with a private beach and easy access to local businesses. The dazzling Crowne Plaza® Muscat hotel looks across the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Oman from a lush clifftop in fashionable Qurum Heights. With a panoramic terrace, infinity pool and private beach, the hotel is just a 20-minute drive from Muscat International Airport and steps from Qurum Beach with its café-lined promenade. After exploring ancient Muttrah Souq and Corniche, you can savor a cool drink in our English-style Dukes Bar as the sun dips into the Gulf. For dinner, how about Italian, Persian, or lavish buffets on the terrace of THE restaurant with stunning sea views?
Other than the great food and beautiful scenery this hotel has, the customer service is on a different level. I’m on a business travel; I had a painful shoulder stiffness that was preventing me to work. There was no availability to book a massage session. Caroline, gave me her muscle pain relieving spray. This changed the whole trip. Thank you so much
