6 Top-Rated Motels in Manchester, Vermont

April 22, 2023 Mollie Coke

Nestled in the heart of the Green Mountains, this former iron-mining town today is the quintessential Vermont getaway, complete with a white steeple church, antique shops and cozy country inns. Manchester is a true all-season destination. In winter, skiers arrive to hit the downhill slopes at nearby Bromley and Stratton Mountains or the cross-country trails at Hildene. Spring and summer bring hikers who can opt for easy treks through Merrick Forest or more challenging ones like Prospect Rock, a three-mile hike, mostly uphill, that offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains as reward to those who make it. Manchester fly-fishing is also a popular pastime, drawing enthusiasts from around the country who come to learn or hone their skills. Big name outlet stores in Manchester Center draw shoppers year-round. In the fall, it's all about foliage. Enjoy the vibrant colors from a canoe on the mighty Battenkill River, a bicycle along a scenic path or kick back and take it all in from a comfy rocking chair on the porch of a historic inn. No matter what your vantage point, the show is always spectacular.

Too expensive for that type of room

Reviewed By Paul S

The Manchester view is a much better value . Your staff was very pleasant and helpful and friendly but with a minor expense on your part the room would be much more safe, especially for older guest and more user friendly

Good views and location, terrible mattress

Reviewed By emilysF2178WH

I want to write about the beautiful views, the lovely grounds, and the friendly staff- but all I can think about is how horrible the beds were. They have updated so much of the furniture, but the mattress was like a crumbly college dorm mattress which left me with a sore back. It was really awful, and when I asked about transferring to a suite to see if it has a nicer bed they said the mattress was the same in every room. We did enjoy the location and the nice extras like the small golf course. If they upgrade the mattresses we would happily come back. The other downside was the restaurant where our $14 pizza looked like a kid sized grocery store frozen pizza. Definitely skip the restaurant for some of the nicer ones in town.

a very scary place

stayed for one night this month. everywhere i looked, there was a problem. the stone walkway in front of our room had huge loose stones- very trippable. the room was very 1960's dated. curtains were held together by a huge clip. there were paint stains and chips every corner of the room and bathroom. the wall paper was coming off on most seams. i was afraid to unpack anything. i kept my shoes on as the carpet looked dirty and had visible stains. this place was very scary and could have been a set for a horror movie. i didn't sleep well.

Clean and Comfortable

Econo Lodge isn't my first choice for overnight stays, but I was very happy with my experience here last weekend. Every employee was friendly and helpful. The rooms were small, but clean, well maintained, and had a fridge and microwave. The breakfast was included and had a waffle maker, egg patties, sausage patties, boiled eggs, cereal, fruit, etc. I'd stay there again.
