Thanks God we stayed here just for one night. WiFi doesn't work, black mold occupied the bathroom, towels are older then me. Thanks for the hospitality but never again. I can't say anything about spa or breakfast, but rooms must be cleaned!

My mum and I were visiting Sobibor death camp where our relatives were killed in the Holocaust and we booked this last minute. We sent a message ahead to ask if they could arrange an extra mattress in the room as there was only one double bed, but they didn't reply. When we arrived quite late after a long journey from Krakow they already looked a little perturbed to see us. We were whisked to our room and left in the corridor having to find the light switch ourselves - a basic piece of hotel etiquette when being shown one's room I would have thought. The room was mostly crowded out with the bed (exceedingly squeaky) and an absurdly large triple wardrobe (unnecessary, unless you are a travelling queen). Everything was chintzy antique and looked like it had been picked up at the tail end of a flea market. There were two floor lights that looked vaguely haunted, with the moth eaten one reluctantly only working from one anaemic bulb. The main crappy chandelier also only had one bulb working. The curtains looked liked they'd been whisked into shape after a long repose, and in the process forgetting how to be curtains. They were clipped in by Poundland plastic clasps that failed miserably to hold up the sullen fabric. Our bathroom was almost bigger than the room and had of all things a bidet! Why?? This ain't France and I'm not Louis the XIIII I thought. However when in such palatial quarters I thought I might as well make use of it and wash my feet. Looking around there was no soap or shampoo packets, another basic hotel fail there. There was some anonymous hand soap though, so I reached for it. Whilst washing, a rather nasty smell like off lentils was coming from the bidet. I thought, well, it must be the drain - perfect! But it wasn't until a bit later when I was attempting to use the crappy shower (more cheap plastic fittings unable to hold the shower-head in place), and soaping my armpits, that I realised the foul odour to be the hand soap itself! Disgusting! Going down to the bar/reception which resembled a plundered alpine resort/hunting lodge/office (no surface not covered with trinkets from antlers to 1990s telephones), I asked about WIFI and was told it didn't work with Apple?? - basic hotel norm fail number 3. Next I ordered a beer, another basic thing I thought... and it was warm, and this tipped me over the edge, it was the limit, and I told them as much! One of them was nice and quite apologetic, but didn't actually seem to be working there, and kept looking to the other one hopelessly, who in turn kind of turned their back and deflected the situation into the ether. I got the idea the hotel was being run by the relatives and friends of the owners who weren't being paid enough and wanted to pour proverbial cold water on their guests in revenge. Returning to our room we were greeted by a praying mantis on our bed. Not a problem for us, he was beautiful, but anyone afraid of large insects might have been about ready to defrenestrate themselves. Breakfast was included but was lacking and inadequate. On my way down a new family member was behind the bar who looked positively terrified at my appearance. In the breakfast room we were greeted with a wilting spread that looked like it had been modeled from the kitchen of a dolls house. There was no cafetiere for the coffee, the cereals had the texture of cardboard and had clearly not been refreshed in a while, the bread was stale and probably defrosted, and everything was just a bit rank. My mum escaped earlier than me and managed to get herself trapped in the toilet due to the poor design of the alcove leading to our room (too many doors too close together). The final insult was to come however. As we left we found we had been locked in and had to find a back entrance through the basement! In conclusion this place is not at all worth the money, has nebulous staff and seems to be unsure of what era and culture it's in (opposite our room they seemed to be fitting out a luxury penthouse suite in Moorish style). Frankly, the mantis could have done a better job at running this place.
