Y Talbot is a characterful Inn with bar, restaurant and rooms situated on the town square in the bustling market town of Tregaron. Renowned for its excellent hospitality and food Y Talbot is listed in the Michelin Guide and has been awarded two AA Rosettes. Fine locally sourced fish, lamb, beef and cheeses are showcased on the extensive menu. Welsh ales and ciders are also featured. There is an attractive landscaped garden to the rear, ideal for al fresco dining. There is ample free parking in the Square at the front of the building and private parking to the rear as well as secure lock up facilities for bikes and motorbikes . The nine Superior bedrooms and suites have been renovated to a very high standard, offering a high level of comfort to guests with sumptuous bathrooms featuring superb walk in showers (two of the suites also also have baths). Families with children can be accomodated in our top floor suite and garden suites. The four Standard rooms offer simpler accomodation to suit a tighter budget. Y Talbot welcomes guests with limited mobility, our Ground floor Accessible room may be accessed without steps or ramps, there are also accessible toilets on the ground floor. We pride ourselves on our local, Welsh speaking staff who offer a warm "Croeso" (Welcome) to guests from near and far. Whether its for a weekend break in the stunning and tranquil Cambrian mountains, for a feast of Welsh cuisine or for a wedding or family celebration Y Talbot can cater for your needs.
Standard room a reasonable size for a short stay. Traditional decor and furnishings. Good choice of teas/coffees in room. All areas very clean. Reception, waiting and bar staff all friendly and helpful. Bit of a probllem at first to get parked as rear car park quite small but space in front of hotel soon became available. Small bar area popular with friendly locals. Reasonable choice for evening meal and food very good.Restaurant quite small so I would always book this, but additional eating area in lounge bar. Good choice of buffet items and hot food freshly cooked at breakfast. Brilliantly cooked breakfasts. Small garden area at rear very well maintained.

The Elenydd is an area in the southern Cambrian Mountains of mid-Wales, between Llanwrtyd Wells and Tregaron. It is a wild and beautiful place, with silence broken only by a gurgling stream, the bleating of sheep or the call of a bird. It is a wonderful area for outdoor activities like walking and cycling, an ideal place to escape from the pressures of the modern world.Simple youth hostels have provided accommodation here for many years and have always been popular with walkers and cyclists. They are in isolated and stunning locations and have been run by volunteer wardens for many years. The Youth Hostels Association closed the last three of these hostels in 2006, but we have managed to save two of them - Ty'n Cornel and Dolgoch. They are both converted farmhouses in the hills and are full of character. And you can help to keep them open by visiting them!
Just enjoyed a week at this extremely remote older style basic Hostel. Amazing scenery and if you get a cloudless night, fantastic place to view stars, as Dark Sky area with no light pollution. Can be a bit tricky to get to, as very narrow roads, but worth the effort.

We are a family run guest house in the heart of Wales. Perfectly situated for walkers, cyclists, romantic getaways, rural escapes and wellness breaks. Glan Brennig is a beautiful, spacious Georgian Guest House, nestled at the foot of the Cambrian Mountains. You can expect complete relaxation when you stay with us, with onsite cafe and farm shop, Wellness centre and 20 acres of Welsh countryside.
We had a lovely 3 night stay in this B&B which has lots of space outside and a lovely cafe and farm shop. It felt like our own country house with plenty of parking, its' own grounds, a lounge for guests and a very tranquil ambience. Our room was comfortable with lots of drawers and hanging space in real pieces of furniture, tea and coffee, a bath with shower and a very cosy king sized bed. We settled in very quickly. Breakfast was provided in the on-site cafe and was freshly cooked and was super tasty. I had both the Welsh breakfast and the vegetarian option on different mornings and loved them both. My travel buddy loved the play area next to the field with cows and horses. She was delighted with the hard boiled eggs prepared by Henry on request. It was a great location for us on the edge of Tregaron with super staff across the board.

No social distancing in bar. Locals illegally lined up at bar ordering drinks. Language of customers foul. Landlady / bar maid had no control of the clientele and did nothing to stop the language or ask them to socially distance. Charged £110 for small room for two of us with no breakfast and no wifi (In fact told us the wifi was not free) The room was clean but small, small double bed, and very basic. No table lamps, no biscuits with tea and coffee. We only stayed the one night as we managed to get the other two nights we needed at The Miners a couple of miles up the road where we paid £75 a night for two of us with a beautiful cooked breakfast, as well as the normal fruit, toast and cereal. Unfortunately they were full on the Friday night which is why we had to stay here. In the Miners the room was huge with a king size bed, two arm chairs and a lovely bathroom. Plus biscuits with the tea and coffee, plus a very nice freebie which went down well! We will never stay here again and definitely would not recommend.
