The value of time is the first and foremost gift that the Marquesas offers to travellers. Located in a magnificent tropical garden, Le Nuku Hiva by Pearl Resorts overlooks the bay and village of Taiohae and the black sandy beach lying 50 steps below. Each bungalow are built with local materials and each of them have carvings by a different artist from the Marquesas Islands. Appreciate this typical atmosphere found in the Marquesas with modern comforts.
The cabins are made from natural materials and are located in the beautiful gardens on a hill overlooking Tahaie bay. Hotel staff very friendly and attentive to the smallest detail. The excursions offered by the hotel were exceptionally good and worth the money and gave a detailed look into the Marquesan life, and that made the stay unforgettable.

We are family with one 11 years old child. It is our third visit in French Polynesia and this was the worst experience since now. The room is about 3x4 m2 with 3 beds. Since it was no air-con (for the price it should have), and the bungalow was concrete and on the sun, it should have at least mosquito net. Of course we have to have windows and doors open (otherwise we had 45 C), we were hardly beaten by mosquito. Such room could be maximum 7.000 - 8.000 Cpf, but for 28.000 ...They have also the construction work 5 meters from our bungalow, start at 6 am. First diner was something amazing. They served the dinner on the same table for us and for their family. We wait about 15 minutes alone and than we asked them if we start alone. They answered, “yes”. So we started and we eat all the meat (they prepared 400 g).After we finished, they came and be a bit angry, that we ate the meat. We want to go around the island with the car, so we asked chef Jerome, if we can rent a car on the island. He answered “no”, but we can join him on the tour. Next day we find a car in 5 minutes asking some locals. When we want to make some walks to the rock pillars, he said of course, it is not possible to go alone, because it is not possible to find the trail and the trail is on private land. Of course he offered again expensive tour with him. Next day we went to walk alone and was easy to find the way. Beside all this was mostly no “good morning, please or thank you” . When serving food or drink they mostly look away. At the end, he charged us extra 500 Cpf for each egg for the breakfast (breakfast was included).

My wife and i visited Nuku Hiva in late may and we were very excited to be in the Marquises. As we looked for some good and affordable accommodation on the island we ended up with the best option which it was Mave Mai. The room was good and we did have our own private bathroom and AC in the room which is a must in the Marquises. The breakfast was standard but they did have cooking facilities which helps a lot.The host was friendly and helpful and the place is a family run business. All in all our stay was good but 5 days on the island was a bit too much.2-3 days are more than enough to see the highlights.

Chalets fully equipped and furnished with all the necessary comfort so that your stay remains unforgettable. Kitchenette with all the necessary, adequate for families. From your terrace, guests enjoy unobstructed views of Tahauku Bay, Mount Temetiu and Hanakee Rock. You will stay calm in our paradise Marquisien.
The chalets are comfortable, proper, warm, all wood lined and fully equipped. they all have a beautiful terrace overlooking the bay. they are immersed in silence but just a few steps away from a fancy bar/restaurant. But the real plus is Tehina's, the manager, infinite kindness. Always ready to solve with a smile the difficulties arisen from traveling in such a difficult moment. Not to mention the fresh fruits, the tips, the pick ups to town.. Tematai the guide is professional and cool at the same time , and fun to be with. He knows everything about the island and its traditions. I can't imagine a better place to stay in Hiva Oa and I hope to return!

Tout au fond de la vallée d'Hakamoui, les bungalows de Dany vous accueillent loin du monde et au bord d'une plage. Nichés dans la verdure, vous apprécierez cette escapade qui dépayse et permet de se ressourcer.
