This was our last stop in Costa Rica after 10 days in the country. From start to finish it was a disappointment. The 30-minute journey up the mountain (on unpaved, rock-strewn roads) was grueling. The website indicated an SUV was needed but no additional warning had been provided. Our room was lovely but I plugged a hair dryer in and it blew the fuse. It took far too many texts with the staff to attempt to resolve the issue. I was essentially met with the shrugging of shoulders and told candles would be put in our room as there was no electrician on site. If I was in a hostel I would have rolled with it but how a "boutique hotel" does not have a standard operating procedure for something like this is absurd. Over two hours later the breaker was identified and the issue was repaired. A sign in the room, indicating that appliances should not be used, would have mitigated this issue. Furthermore, there was no hot water in the shower the next day (despite running the tap for over 10 minutes). Also, I had requested an aromatherapy massage and, while the massage I received was nice, it in no way involved aromatherapy oils. Finally, the dinner was incredibly lackluster for a property that boasts about their organic farm. I have been fortunate in my life and have stayed at many lovely properties around the world. This was by far the most disappointing and felt akin to glamping at a resort with inadequate staff with minimal problem-solving skills.

We have 48 spacious rooms. All rooms have air conditioning, two double beds, cable TV, hot water and a balcony. We have a finely decorated and equipped Restaurant where we offer the most exquisite traditional dishes of the region and a wide menu of international dishes. The maximum capacity of our restaurant is 100 people comfortably located. We have 2 rooms for special events such as meetings, exhibitions, birthday parties, baby showers, layette tea and others. The capacity of our meeting room is 250 people comfortably located.
Pros: Spotless room and restaurant, good bed & bedding. Cons: Breakfast was put away about 40 min earlier than we thought it was to last till, but that could have been our misunderstanding. Coffee maker didn’t work properly. Bottom line: We’d stay again for a single night.
