Rekona lodge is a popular accommodation in Gizo. Friendly staff and a great base from which to explore and enjoy your holiday.
I stayed with Rekona on a prolonged trip to Gizo working at the nearby hospital. The lodge was ideal - close to the market, waterfront, shops, and only a short walk into the hospital each morning. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms were kept beautifully clean. The shared kitchen was very well equipped. I stayed in the lower level of the Island Wing, the rooms had a fridge, kettle, en suite with hot water, air con, and a fan. I found I was easily able to keep cool! WiFi was also available for free in the reception - considering that WiFi is patchy on the island, a major advantage! I would definitely recommend staying here!! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

"Fatboys" is derived from the character "Joe" from the book "The Pickwick Papers" by Charles Dickens. Joe-the “fat boy” consumes great quantities of food and constantly falls asleep in any situation at any time of the day; the Fatboys life revolves around drinking, eating, sleeping and making every conceivable effort to avoid work. Whilst at Fatboys Resort the customer becomes "Joe the Fatboy". Enjoy an ice cold bevy, a plate of fresh crayfish pan-fried in lime juice and butter, a game of pool, or simply kick back and be mesmerized by the myriad of tropical fish swimming underneath you. But being closly related to the writings of Dickens, there are of course many adventures to be had. We stayed in one of the bungalows and it was clean and spacious. The staff looked after us very well. We dined on freshly caught seafood everyday and Manu was kind enough to arrange for some to bring back to Honiara with us! The staff booked a day trip for us to skull island which was amazing. Our only complaint was there were 3 of us and only 2 hammocks to relax in!

Total Exclusivity! Located on a secluded island approximately 7 minutes from Gizo by boat, Sanbis Resort offers premier accommodation with each bungalow having its own private beach; ensuite with hot water and a stunning view across the lagoon. The number of bungalows has been limited to six to ensure privacy and luxury for guests. You will be spoilt in every way possible. The resort boasts a gourmet kitchen with a fully stocked bar.
We spent four wonderful days at Sanbis. The accomodation was secure and the bed and pillows comfortable. Towels (including beach towels) and linen were all great quality. There is mesh on all the windows which is great for those of us who suffer from being liked by the odd mosquito. There was also a good mosquito net for the bed and the staff ensure rooms are sprayed and mozzie coils lit each evening. The meals were excellent - we had crayfish on several occasions served with a variety of sauces and the pizza's were excellent. A variety of breakfast options are available and the full breakfast (bacon, eggs, baked beans, toast and coffee) was always cooked to perfection. The staff were very accomodating and made us feel most welcome. We utilised the kayak's which were in excellent condition and went on a short day trip in one of their several boats - skilfully and safely driven by AJ. Snorkelling out the front of the resort there is plenty to see including giant clams and plenty of fish/sea life.

Stayed at imagination island with my family over Christmas for over a week and wished we had stayed longer service from alphonsus and his staff was almost as awesome as the crayfish and fruit plators. Also some of the best snorkeling and diving spots I've ever seen will definitely return

Stayed in the Gizo Hotel for a couple of weeks in January, Upper Seaview room. It is right on the waterfront where you get off the shuttle boat to the airport (this was a first for us the airport is about 1Km offshore on a small island.) We really enjoyed our stay. The room was nice but not flashy, over looking the Markets and the Port, small freighters and barges coming and going nearly everyday. The double bed was large and comfortable and clean, we did have few issues with plumbing though. Because we had a room overlooking the street you do get the occasional noise. Staff were wonderful very friendly and helpful, helped us book a water taxi to visit Fat boys resort for lunch and a Rav 4 to go to the other side of the island. The restaurant was good with fish chicken and pork on the menu as well as a pizza oven. Décor is well worth a look with carved tables and support beams . The pool was not working, which was a shame because there is nowhere to swim close to town, but Roselyn was attempting to have it repaired when we left. We also had difficulties paying with a credit card as their electronic machine was not working ( hadn’t been for a couple of weeks), I eventually got them to use a manual authorisation and suggested they see about getting a manual machine ( Fatboys use them) which Roselyn was going to look into. Very few shops in town have EFTPOS/credit facilities be prepared to use cash. There are couple of banks with ATM’s in town. You’ll also occasionally see a Dalkeith/Toorak possum.
