Lorne House is a beautifully furnished and immaculately clean property, with extremely friendly hosts. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel most welcome. Bob responded to all my emails immediately. I booked the entire house, for a group of 13 of us to stay together. We had full use of the well equipped kitchen (including a large fridge) and enjoyed sitting out on the sunny terrace, overlooking beautiful countryside. One of our group had an electric car and benefited from being able to access a charging point on site. All the rooms are ensuite and very comfortable. Bob provided us with a useful list of local pubs/restaurants and activities to do in the area, so that we could plan our weekend before arrival. The house is located on a main road, which gives access to Bath (about 6 miles away) and there is a bus stop a couple of minutes walk away. Box is a pretty village to walk around, with amenities including: a Post Office, chemist, restaurants and cafes. I thoroughly recommend Lorne House to anyone who is wanting somewhere for a large group to stay and was extremely happy with our choice. Many thanks to Bob and Liz and the rest of the team for a fantastic weekend.

The Quarryman’s Arms is a traditional country pub and inn with a history dating back over 250 years, located in beautiful Box Hill, on the outskirts of Bath. A haven for locals, walkers and cyclists alike, The Quarryman’s enjoys breathtaking countryside views over the Bybrook Valley and is perfectly positioned for exploring the city of Bath, historic Corsham, Lacock, and the Cotswolds. We have four beautiful boutique bedrooms, offering the ideal Wiltshire escape for family staycations, romantic weekends away, or business travellers. On the menu, it’s all about traditional pub food created with the finest seasonal and local produce, and the best Sunday roasts in the area. Behind the bar, you’ll find a cracking range of Butcombe ale and craft beer, plus local cider and a great wine selection. Outside our beer garden is ideal for al fresco drinking and dining, with amazing views over the valley, and a covered and heated pergola terrace for the colder months. Food and drink can be easily ordered to your table via the Butcombe App. The Quarryman’s is dog-friendly, child-friendly, and perfectly positioned for visits to Lacock Abbey, the Roman Baths in Bath, and Longleat Safari Park.
My husband and i ventured out for the first time in months for supper. The Quarrymans was the place! I t was excellent. Lovely to be out - and we felt perfectly safe. Good social distancing etc.. Staff were very good - food was yummy. Well done. Will be back very soon. Oh and the pub had a lovely buzz going on - some casual drinkers outside and others enjoying a meal as we were.

The former Box Station Hotel owes its architecture to Brunel. Head Chef Chris Alderson has created a classic menu using seasonal produce. Fresh fish is delivered to from Cornwall, along with locally sourced beef. Those staying the night will be royally spoilt as slick bedrooms sport pieces of one-off furniture and sculpture - and beds super comfortable with dazzling white linen and thick mattresses. One room has a decked balcony, all have coffee-machines, and slate stone bathrooms
Room was clean and bright, everything you would want. The shower did not work, only boiling hot water, too hot to use. Really disappointed on an otherwise lovely place. I have stay here before and on that occasion the radiator tap was broken which made the room very hot.

Clive and Kate Sugg offer you a warm welcome to their small-holding at Meadowbrook Cottage. You will find us situated in deepest rural Wiltshire in the beautiful hidden Box valley. Next to the By-brook and right on the doorstep of tranquil walks through magnificent English green countryside. We offer comfortable beds and, with a little help from our hens, our own hearty breakfast which will get your day started. Close to Bath & the M4. Open all year round. Book early for Christmas though!
Myself and my wife stayed at Meadowbrook cottage for a long weekend recently, especially to visit the Bath Xmas market. We were definitely not disappointed. What a wonderful place to stay, it was lovely and peaceful, the breakfast was out of this world, well done Clive. Hats off to to the hosts Clive and Kate, both smashing people. I would highly recommend a stay here, it was great. We will be visiting again next year. Nigel & Diane.
