Votre passage restera inoubliable…
Beautiful building and grounds, especially the drive to the castle. Room was very nicely appointed and it was fun to walk around the building. Very limited outlets for charging stuff. Breakfast was nice - pastries, baguette, jam, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee, orange juice - but I had read reviews and knew what to expect. Receptionist was friendly. It's a bit difficult to find (especially when you're on a bike and your phone has died...) - look for the slightly dilapidated sign "Les Arpentis" and drive down that road. Location is ok - you can buy food at the grocery store around the corner and use the kitchen facilities at the Chateau (grocery store closes early!). Or you can go into town, but you need a car or Bike. Since I had been cycling all day, I was hoping to get a taxi into town, but they were all fully booked, so I cycled to town (which was easy and not far).

Discover the Château de Gizeux, the family, its history. In the heart of the Loire Valley, close to Tours, this extraordinary ancentral and authentic home will tell you a thousand and one secrets... Gizeux has been in our family for over 230 years. We became the owners of the property in 2003 and since 2006 we have been offering the service of a guest house. Your visit to Gizeux encourages us and acts as part of the renovation process of this historical residence of the Loire Valley, for which we only are the trustees for its preservation with regards to future generations. Don't expect a porter, a polished reception desk, a lift, nor a restaurant with a full waiter service. At Gizeux, we the family, welcome you . We simply wish to share our passion with you and make our daily life an exceptional experience for you. We want your stay in our home to become part of the history of this castle. Welcome to the Chateau of Gizeux where 3 generations of our family are looking forward to welcoming you in the historical and enchanting surroundings of the Loire Valley.
This Chateau is off the beaten track. Looks imposing as you drive towards it but closer inspection tells a different story. A warm welcome undoubtedly by a young lady who had to do multiple jobs. She gave us the tickets at the entrance and then ran to the Orangerie to kindly make us coffees. The Orangerie is in but name only with its boutique / cafe title aspirational as opposed to real sadly. The gardens have not been maintained and in need of serious rescuing. The building also needs some serious tender loving care. Little to see inside in the public wing with painted walks in place of the real thing. Work clearly started on this chateau ten plus years ago but it's very much a work in progress and could take more than a few to restore it to any former glory. The photos online or at the entrance are not reflective of it's current condition. If contributing to its maintenance is a worthy cause then it's worth the price of entry but in some ways you come away with a sense of sadness that its best days may have come and gone.

This is a lovely place. The very warmest of welcomes from superb hosts..kind, courteous, friendly but discrete, and very, very helpful (way beyond the call of duty), spacious comfortable studio units (good facilities for preparing simple meals...v v useful during covid pandemic), clean, very good bed. Pleasant outdoor seating/dining. terraces and lounge at main chateau also available. beautiful pool. gorgeous grounds (amazing wildlife....owls, deers and more). Very quiet and peaceful. The area is amazing and offers enough for a prolonged stay along with the occasional lazy day at the pool......10 days would not be too long. lots of good restaurants and shopping a short drive away. Secure private parking a short way from accomm area. Unloading no problem in directly front of chateau and studios. We loved it here and would highly recommend. We´ll be back!!!

Our stay was too short at only 1 evening but the hospitality was excellent, the chateau classically yet warmly appointed and we found the owner charming, disarming and fun! The grounds are lovely with a serviceable pool, plentiful parking and pretty vistas. A short drive from Tours, the location is easy off the main roads. We would definitely recommend 1-3 nights at this classic French chateau!

We are a family of four, two adults and two teens. The beds were uncomfortably hard and there is no air conditioning. It wasn't super hot outside so it was bearable. The paint is peeling off in various places and the bathrooms did not seem all that clean (some mold). On the plus side, the rooms are quiet and dark for sleeping. The grounds are absolutely spectacular and relaxing. The breakfast is also nice.

This little castle was a brilliant find half way through our honeymoon. Georgoire spent 10 years taking this from a disused 16th century castle to a brilliant night’s stay. There are only two rooms (which are each huge), with an enormous medical fireplace in each and some great olden fittings. While feeling you are in a proper castle, you also feel it is completely modern - windows are double glazed, heating under floor. All the amenities (bathrooms, lounge area, toilet) are in the turrets coming off the main room. The bed was really comfortable. It sits on its own little island with a moat and a row boat which we took out with a bottle of wine which we loved. Breakfast was great - there are brilliant restaurants just down the road in Sache. If we’d have known what we were getting we would have booked a longer stay.
